We’ve had some wild and crazy weather – heatwave which of course then instigated hours of random thunder and lightning storms last Monday. I love thunderstorms, and they’re a rarity here in the Pacific Northwest, so as long as we don’t lose power, I’m cool with them. The dogs, on the other hand, are not.

And for some reason the issue I’d been having with my Verizon internet was exacerbated by the thunder storms. Might not be related, just seemed odd that the peek-a-boo internet I’d been dealing with was now in a constant state of peek-a-boo. So annoying when I’m in a 30-minute zoom meeting and get fully kicked out no less than 4 times. I think ‘annoying’ is an understatement.

Of course I immediately got on the phone with the tech people (over an hour trying to do all the same steps I’d been doing to kick the connection back to fully connected). Seemed to work (as it always does when we do hard reboots, etc.) and the really nice customer service person who was trying to help me said she’d call me back the next day to check to make sure it was working properly.

She actually did call back – but alas and alack, the internet had slipped back into it’s ‘peek-a-boo’ mode. UGH. We tried other things, but then she needed to transfer me to another tech person who has more advanced equipment than she does in order to try to get to the bottom of the issue.

My guess is that the device they provided is going (or has gone) bad. After being transferred to the personality deficit tech guy, with his advanced equipment he was able to witness the disconnect-reconnect-disconnect-reconnect internet I was dealing with. He concurred that the device most likely needs to be replaced.

Except.

Apparently they only replace bad devices if they go bad within their one-year warranty.

Say what, now?

Murphy’s Law, I’m two months past my warranty date. I signed up with their services towards the end March 2022 (March 17th, to be exact). So since the device didn’t begin to crap out before March 17, 2023, I’m out of luck. They cannot replace my device.

Again… say what, now?

The tech said he’d open a ticket, and that I would get a call the next day to let me know what the status was, if they can fix my connection, or what the next steps would be. Never got the call, have no idea what transpired with said ticket, the internet is still in a constant state of “now you see it, now you don’t!” state, so I’ll have to take more time this week to hound them about my horrendous internet connection.

The one caveat about moving to a tiny town is internet connectivity is not an abundant thing. We started off with CenturyLink since at the time it was the only service offered in this area, and if any of you have had the displeasure with having CenturyLink as a provider, you know that they’re not only overpriced, but really really bad. It was such a relief to be able to utilize Verizon’s home internet, connectivity was So. Much. Better. Like night and day.

Well, you know, until now.

I guess it was good while it lasted. Now we’re having major déjà vu moments with the now-you-see-it, now-you-don’t connection. I’ll let you know if there is any resolution – wish me luck! But enough about that, let’s jump into the funnies, shall we?

  1. The baby whose mom took selfies, awesome! So freakin’ funny! And the hidden packages! And Bobby! And the smiling cat. They are all great! Century Link is terrible. Thanks for hosting!

  2. Heeheehee! I’m laughing about the funnies, but not at all about your connection woes. Perhaps Verizon will sell or rent you new equipment if the old ceases to function, they have to have some way of dealing with this problem.

  3. I don’t mind thunderstorms any more just when my “Charlie” (our dog) starts to bark & bark & then if it gets really bad he crawls up under your legs. (scardy cat)!!! hahaha! He’s the same way with fire works! Anyway, I have a basement now so it doesn’t matter to me anymore. We have somwhere to go! hahahaha! Come on over if you don’t have a basement. There’s lots a room & more the merrier! hahaha
