And just like that, an hour of our time has been whisked away. I know I’m probably a broken record, but I wholeheartedly despise Daylight Saving Time and having that hour stolen.

I really really hope that those that are they that are trying to make the lost hour a permanent year-round thing, that they are not successful. I’d ben super excited and happy if they decided to just keep standard time year ’round instead of changing the clocks twice a year. Maybe we could compromise and just take/give 1/2 an hour instead for a year ’round thing. What do you think?

Meanwhile, since it is Monday, you know that Monday means music! This week is a freebie week, so grab your favorite tune(s) and come dance with us, will you?

Let’s start with a five-time Grammy nominated artist with a brand new song from his brand new album. About this song he said:

“I wanted this to be the last one you hear before #MyStoryYourGlory is out tonight. This song starts backwards with my journey so far, and points forward towards Heaven and the day where we sing the greatest song any of us will ever sing on the day we join in song with the angels.”

Get ready for goosebumps, here’s Matthew Weset with “The Last Song”:

Next up is a new song from this artist’s new album – for this song, she pairs up with another favorite artist who hails not far from where I grew up in Washington State.

On this collaboration, the artist seems to have finally let go of what she had with her ex-husband and is ready for the next chapter of her life — albeit unsure where it will lead her. At this point in her grieving process, she’s simply ready to get the hell out of here.

I’m not always right, but still, I ain’t got time for what went wrong / Where I end up, I don’t really care / I’m out of my mind, but still, I’m holding on like a rolling stone / A thousand miles from anywhere

Fans will no doubt immediately recognize the Washingtonian’s signature guitar stylings throughout the song, as well as her harmonica sounds near the song’s bridge.

Give a listen to Miley Cyrus featuring Brandi Carlile with “Thousand Miles”:

Next up, is a song that pays tribute to the uniqueness of every individual and embraces life’s ups and downs. The pretty, folky ode to outsiders contemplates how certain qualities and behaviors are fundamental to the human experience. We must confront and navigate our shared experiences as we go about our lives. The frontman said:

“I think about people and how they can stand in the modern day, just with their own psyche and how people view them. Stay true to who you are.”

Without further ado, here’s Shinedown with “A Symptom Of Being Human”:

Last, but certainly not least, just in time for Women’s History Month, this artist is back with another empowering single. This time she’s taken inspiration from fairytale characters and Disney princesses.

In the song, she sings about how Cinderella discovers the Prince is cheating on her and tells him off, which inspires all the other women in the kingdom to take a stand for independence.

I don’t need no prince to save me / I’m a goddamn CEO / Don’t call me baby / Equal pay me / Snow White said you tried to kiss her / So I’ll just buy a new glass slipper / and burn your castle down / and kids, that’s how / Cinderella snapped

After that, she details the changes that swept the kingdom: Rapunzel shaved her dead, Mulan and Jasmine made out with each other, Sleeping Beauty “sued the dude who kissed her while she was asleep,” Ariel was “confident without any feet” and Beauty “realized that she was the Beast.” The artist said:

“I wanted to write a song from Cinderella’s perspective, if she and all the princesses rewrote their stories and burned the fairytale system down.

My intention was to throw a little dose of equality into the stories I grew up with. I always wondered how it would have shaped who I was if all the princesses I looked up to had more purpose than being saved by a prince.

Get ready for some fun, here’s Jax with “Cinderella Snapped”:

  1. The first song, by Matthew Weset, was beautiful.

I don’t know how many times I’ve seen a song by Miley Cyrus and think I’ll hate it, and I end up liking it…

  2. Stacy,

I had trouble getting on your site yesterday but I’m here at last. My favorite song in your line up is Matthew West’s. Thanks for the introduction to these song titles. Have a boogietastic week, my dear!

  3. Matthew West’s song was beautiful. Shinedown happens to be one of my favorite groups and I’m not sure why I have never had one of their songs in my posts. But my favorite this week was Cinderella Snapped. Enjoyed both the song and the video.
