Hello Tuesday! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We are now officially ensconced in the Holiday Season – how’d that happen so fast? Now that we actually have a front porch, I was able to get a little festive:

I still need to add garland and lights (I love that we finally have a covered porch to decorate – I’ve missed my previous decorate-worthy porches in the past!), Mother Nature wasn’t cooperating Sunday, the heavens opened up with heavy rains which literally put a damper on decorating.

I also got the tree up this weekend, decided to go with a fake one this year, since I got a great deal at Target with one that’s subtly flocked, and has pine cones and berries on it (and, you know – already strung with lights, saving me some time):

Since the tree has some flocking (first time I’ve ever gotten one of those), I decided to pic up a cute owl tree topper – have to dig out the ornaments from the abyss that is the furnace room that couples as the cat room (keeps the dogs out of their litter boxes, and out of their cat food). I bought an 8’x10′ shed a couple of weeks ago, and while the hubby and I could have put it together, we’re not getting any younger, and both of us have been super busy with work, so I hired the dude who built our front steps and porch to put the shed together for me.

I’m so glad I did – turns out the pre-existing cement pad that’s the perfect place to put the shed is not level – a difference from front-to-back of about 4-inches. That won’t do! So the dude built a platform to make sure the shed is not only level, but to make sure the floor won’t have issues in the future. I’m looking forward to having an easily accessible place to store my seasonal stuff, as well as any winemaking stuff that doesn’t need to be stored in a climate controlled area.

You know what that means, don’t you? I’ll finally be able to set up my winemaking room, since I needed a place to move the stacks’o’boxes inhibiting doing that! I’ll also be able to clear out the room I’ll turn into a wine cellar of the miscellaneous craft and seasonal décor boxes stacked in there. I’ll be sure to take before and after pics so you can enjoy the progress along with me.

So looks like Old Man Winter is going to pay us a visit this week – major snow storms in the mountains will creep down into the lowlands this week. We’re keeping an eye on the weather, the hubby might have to park his butt in a hotel near his work to avoid any commute issues this week (his drive is 74 miles one way, and he has some very important robotic training going on every day this week).

According to the forecast, Tuesday onward we’re supposed to get a few inches of snow per day. My sister is flying in from Kansas on Tuesday to spend a couple of weeks here to celebrate mine and my brother and sister’s birthdays – she’ll be staying with my mom, who lives closer to the mountains, which means there will be way more snow there.

We’ll see how this all pans out! Hopefully the weather will change like it did last year – we were supposed to get 22 inches of snow in a major storm, but as we got closer to the date, it kept getting less and less, until we barely got an inch, if I remember correctly.

Oh the joys of weather that changes every 10 minutes. 😉 On that note, let’s jump into the funnies, shall we?

Speaking of snow… this totally cracked me up:
