Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Boy, it was sure nice having four days in a row where I didn’t have to set an alarm to wake up – the extra sleep was sure welcome, and needed! Of course, back to reality this week.

So our Thanksgiving plans ended up changing – we were supposed to go to my mom’s for Thanksgiving, only she texted to let us know that she had congestion and a sore throat the day before, that came on the previous night. Since my hubby was on the tail end of an intestinal bug (that had him down and out for over a week – and yes, pun intended) we decided it would probably be a good idea to not go over there to 1) end up getting the yucks she had, or 2) giving her the yucks the hubby had.

While I had all the ingredients to make all the sides for a typical Thanksgiving dinner, since I wasn’t planning on cooking a turkey at our house, mine was still in the deep freezer, and no way would be thawed out in time for a traditional meal. Since our local grocery store was still open when the hubby got home from work, he hightailed it over there to see what they might have left the night before Thanksgiving, especially since everyone would be closed the next day – even Walmart.

He came home with a prime rib. Score! While I got in the habit of making a prime rib instead of ham for Christmas over the past few years (thanks to my best friend Peggy, may she rest in peace) I was willing to pivot and make it for Thanksgiving instead. So in spite of the bummer of not being able to enjoy the day with extended family, we still got to enjoy a feast on our own.

Of course Thanksgiving morning I woke up with congestion and a sore throat – couldn’t blame my mom for that one! So it was definitely a good thing we decided to just stay home that day, I would have felt bad if I’d passed that along to anyone else, too. I’m still fighting sinus issues, the sore throat comes and goes, so the extra sleep over the weekend was even more appreciated.

Oh yeah, and remember we were supposed to have our new fridge delivered Saturday? It got delayed. Again. So it looks like the next viable date isn’t until December 11th. I’ll just pretend it’s a belated birthday present for myself – well, you know, even though I’m the one buying it…heh! The hookup kit that I ordered with the fridge is for some reason coming in a separate delivery/shipment – Murphy’s Law strikes again, as I got an additional email saying that the delivery for that has been delayed until the Tuesday after the newest delivery date of the fridge.

That won’t do, since I have a feeling the delivery guys – who are supposed to hook up the fridge and test it – won’t hook it up without the hookup kit. Even though the current fridge is hooked up with the same water line the new kit basically is. Since the hookup kit is physically in stock, I’m going to see if I can just pick it up prior to the December 11th fridge delivery so we can make sure it can be hooked up and tested. The last thing I want to have happen is we find the new fridge leaks like the old one is doing. Defeats the purpose of getting a new fridge!

OK, enough rambling on my end… let’s move on to the funnies, shall we?

  1. Mercy, i hope you can pick up that kit and get the fridge hooked up the day it comes. What a mess.

Thanks for the funnies, i can always use a good laugh and you provide that every week!

  2. Sorry about the fridge woes! Love your funnies! Man, those 80’s jackets really do look 80’s! Funny how I can’t describe the look, but I know it when I see it. And I would last one phone call if I had to work at Shack of Sit! LOL
