Final Tuesday of September? How’d that happen?! I have to admit, though (and I mentioned this last week), that this is my favorite time of year, so I’m cool with the transition to fall and gearing up for the holidays. So cool!

So this week is the week I get my eyeballs lasered! I’m simultaneously excited and nervous at the same time. But my dear friend Cathy reassured me that it’ll be a piece of cake (so yeah, Miss Cathy, that’s what I interpreted from your email… thank you! *giggle*). I’m obviously late writing this post (as of this very moment with these particular keystrokes, it’s normally the time I’ve got this post ‘scheduled’ for posting on WordPress… but my fingers are mostly flying to try to get this done soooooon).

Today marked the first day in 18 months that the hubby finally returned to ‘in-person’ teaching at the college he teaches at. EIGHTEEN MONTHS of the one I have over the years jokingly referred to as “Hovering Hubby”. Eighteen months of hovering… which, when you think about it, really puts a crimp in my productivity mojo for my virtual job that I’ve been doing for years pre-covid, so when there was the whole shutdown scenario going on, it was ‘business as usual’ for me.

Except it wasn’t, not with the hubby and kids home 24/7 endlessly. Don’t get me wrong, I love ’em all, and love spending time with them, but when I’m on a deadline and need to get stuff done, well…

I also didn’t get to do any baking or crafty stuff (man, I sure would have loved that opportunity!), I had to keep doing the same thing I’d been doing all along with no break. Don’t get me wrong, I am so very grateful for my clients and them giving me endless work to do, particularly when so many people were suddenly without a job, or eventually without one when things seemed to go from bad to worse.

So this Thursday, when I get my eyeballs lasered, I’ll be relegated to NO SCREEN TIME for 24 hours post-surgery. Which, if you think about it, is basically a day off. Too bad, though, I can’t spend it catching up on what the older generation lovingly refers to as ‘my stories’, because I won’t be allowed to watch TV, either. No phone, no computer, no TV.

Guess I’ll have to catch up on some sleep, or listen to some music, or both! I know I’m way overdue for either of those options. 😉

Alrighty, I suppose we better dive into the funnies before it gets too late – one of the drawbacks to the hubby’s return to in-person teaching, is that he has to be there at 7am, and it’s an hour-and-twenty-minute drive from here, so we have to get up super early to accommodate coffee time in the morning before he leaves.

But that just means some extra early morning ‘me’ time to get stuff done before it’s time to get Little Dude up, fed and hurried off to the bus! I’ll take it!

This cracked me up:

  1. Stacy,

No, no, I said HAVE A PIECE OF CAKE! WOW, you need Lasik worse than we thought! lol I know, I’m being silly but seriously with modern medical technology in our favor they have these type of procedures down pat. The worse part no doubt will be dealing with the eye drops which is a small sacrifice for better eye sight, right?

After you have your day off and you’re feeling all rested because you couldn’t do anything you really wanted to do, you can get back to what you missed out on when the world shut down forcing the hubs and kids to underfoot 24/7. 🙂 Do they read your blog? If so, then they might pick up on it that perhaps they need to give mom some down once in awhile. Trust me when I say they’ll be grown and out of the house before you know it. Heck, PN is almost there now! Cherish these days of madness while you have them.

Thanks for hosting the randomness and giggles. Saying prayers that all goes well and for the recovery to be as simple as everyone says it is suppose to be. 🙂

  2. A day off sounds well deserved.

Loved the funnies, especially the tiny office left for the next tenant to find. That made my evening!
