Well hello there! So glad you stopped by. As some may notice, I’m once again running late – but thankfully not as late as last week, when I finally got around to posting that post when Tuesday was pretty much a done deal. 😉 Thanks for your patience with me – today was another day full of meetings, I’m starting to dub Mondays as ‘Meeting Mondays’.

I don’t mind the meetings I have to attend via Zoom, the people I meet with I actually like, and they’re fun to interact with, so at least there’s that. The only problem with multiple meetings is that I run out of time during the day to accomplish what I want/need to accomplish on that particular day, and I end up playing ‘catch-up’ the rest of the week. Maybe I should move all my meetings to Fridays.

Nah, by Friday my motivational mojo has taken a major hit from a busy week, so Meeting Friday may just be annoying instead of fun. I’ll just have to stick with Meeting Mondays and figure out how to not feel like I’m behind the rest of the week. Any suggestions?

We’re finally seeing some relief from the excessive heat we’ve been having for the past week – I mean c’mon… we’re in the Pacific Northwest, it’s supposed to be chilly and even rainy, right? I grew up here, the hubby grew up in Maryland where it’s always hot and humid – we were sitting outside the other day commenting about how hot it was (101 with a ‘feels like’ of 110) and he sarcastically said: “Move to the Pacific Northwest they said, the weather is never hot and humid they said… uh-huh.”

I had to explain to him that this is not ‘normal’, hence the record breaking temps and no rain – I don’t think he bought it, though. I’m just glad we’ll finally have normal temps in the mid-to-upper 70s for a few days, before the heat rises to the mid-80s as is typical for August. Really need to look into central air for the house, though.

It dawned on me that I’m the only one of the 4 of us who spends the majority of my time in a non-air conditioned room, since the kids hang out in their rooms with window A/C’s, and the hubby added a window A/C to his man-cave in the garage. My office in the basement has been excessively warm, since my non-opening window faces the east I get the blazing afternoon sun warming things up. My little USB fan on my desk helps, but tends to just blow the warm air around.

Then I get to spend some quality time in the kitchen making meals, and the kitchen is super hot all by itself without adding the heat from the stove or the sink when I’m cleaning up. The dinner process usually spans about 3 hours – prep, cook, clean up… talk about sweat city! Silver lining is I’ve probably lost 10 lbs of water weight from all the sweating I’ve been doing in this heat. Of course I’ve been drinking lots more water to make sure I stay hydrated, but apparently not enough based on the persistent heat headache I’ve been sporting for a week.

Let’s move on to the funnies, shall we? But first, check out these awesome images of a tiny bird taking a bath in a flower petal:

Isn’t that so cool? I love nature images like that.

  1. You’ve outdone yourself today! Just too funny, i especially like the science vs. social media.

Praying you do get a break in the weather and more normal temps for the rest of the year. Thanks for hosting!

  2. I still have my grandparents’ address tattooed on my butt…

I was in the Netherlands years ago during the centennial of van Gogh’s death and learned that his name sounds like “fan cough” in Dutch…
