Happy Monday! For those of you who celebrate Valentine’s Day, I hope it was a fabulous one. Being that it’s Monday, you know of course that Monday means Music!

For the month of February, our Spotlight Dancer is our friend and regular Monday’s Music Moves Me participant, Robin from Songbird’s Crazy World! The theme selected for this week is “President’s Day. The President is the leader of the country, leader of the free world. Let’s have songs about leadership.” Let’s get this leadership party started, shall we?

There were a plethora of songs to inspire leadership – lucky leaders of a work project, sports team, or local organization who has the unenviable challenge of transforming a mild-mannered, self-doubting group into an invincible force to be reckoned with.

Music can play a key role in kicking motivation into high gear, whether you’re inciting one individual, a small team, or an entire nation to act. There were amazingly lots of songs to choose from, so these are my top four.

Let’s start with a song that encourages you to embrace your mission and go crush the competition. This 2016 indie rock song makes the perfect mantra for any situation in which a leader needs to galvanize the troops to positive action. The song encourages the rest of the team with the message that they “can be heroes,” “have all that we ever want,” and that nothing can keep them down.

Fun Fact: The 2017 World Series of Poker featured this song as its theme song.

Get ready to be inspired, here’s The Score with “Unstoppable”:

Next up, you’re invited to unleash your inner power. The message of this pop ballad from 2013 is uplifting and encouraging. One person provides the needed motivational push to another to be their best by inspiring them to cast fear aside, start speaking up and sharing more of their amazing selves with the world. That’s bravery!

Give a listen to the amazing Sara Bareilles with “Brave”:

Next up, what began as a sales mantra in the 1990s has become a life philosophy for some people, and this 2015 upbeat rock song celebrates it. “Go big or go home” means to either abandon all self-control and invest your maximum energy and effort into attaining a goal or don’t attempt the goal at all. Does the all-or-nothing strategy motivate you?

Get ready to dance, here’s American Authors with “Go Big or Go Home”:

Last, but certainly not least, we live in a dangerous world full of negativity, but even so, if you maintain steadfast commitment to your goal, then you can overcome obstacles and naysayers that threaten to hold you back. Be bold and don’t be afraid to go all-in. Break those chains that encumber you because you were born for this – be a leader.

Without further ado, here’s Imagine Dragons with “Whatever It Takes”:

What are your all-time favorite leadership songs — the ones that make you feel fired up, unstoppable, and ready to run the world?

That’s a wrap for this week – see you on the dance floor! Happy New Year – please stay safe and healthy!

  1. I’m pretty sure this will be the most positive filled playlist I will hear today. All of the songs are new to me and I liked everyone of them. Well done. Have a blessed week.
