December has arrived! I know, right?

First Tuesday of the month, the perfect way to kickoff this month is to be random, don’tcha think? 😉 I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving and long weekend – I actually stayed away from work emails as much as possible – it was nice to have some brain downtime over the weekend, that’s for sure!

I was going to decorate for Christmas early this year, since 2020 has been less than stellar (and I know that’s totally an understatement!) but alas and alack, I didn’t get a chance to pull all the boxes from the basement until this weekend. Since I’m the only one in our household that has any interest in making things look festive, all the schlepping and whatnot is all up to little ol’ me. I don’t mind so much, though, because then I can decorate the heck out of the house, and no one better complain… mwahahaha!

I was going to get a real tree this year, but then thought better of it, because Maxwell is still in his puppy stage, and I wasn’t sure how he’d react to a real tree in the living room, since he likes to jump up to try to grab the lower branches of the trees in the backyard. Figured I’d better play it safe, so I thought I’d better go with fake this year.

My previous fake tree was looking rather sad, and all the lights had gone out, so I jumped on a sale of a nice tall tree a few months ago. I like it just fine, and really liked the fact I didn’t have to string a bajillion lights on it (if I’m going to all that trouble, then it would definitely call for a real tree). Got it all put together and set up:

I still need to fluff it out some more and load it up with ornaments – and find the dinosaur’s Santa hat and tie, plus run a string of lights from him to the tree (I always make it look like he’s helping decorate, and will hang some ornaments on his claws and teeth, too). Brought some of the Christmas boxes up from the basement, so one of our fluffy furbabies has been in seventh heaven (she’s our official box kitty – if you can’t find her, she’s usually in or on a box somewhere).

Which is why she took great interest in the tree skirt I got (I have a ‘regular’ tree skirt, but worried she’d pee on it, hence this version)… of course she pushed on the cardboard to enable her to lay on it… hopefully it will remain ‘pee-free’.

Hopefully by next week I’ll have more pics to share. My birthday is next week, and I used to wait until after my birthday to decorate for Christmas, rather than Thanksgiving weekend. I’m sure that’s due to the years of “This is your Birthday and Christmas present!” gifts when I was a kid – so subconsciously I didn’t want Christmas to ‘interfere’ with my birthday. Funny how you change your mind as you get older – now I love having the festive decor around on my birthday, makes it more celebratory.

But I still prefer not to get combined gifts…just sayin’.

Let’s move on into the funnies, shall we? Did anyone partake in Black Friday shopping? This was pretty much me:

This cracked me up:

This is funny (strange bird this one – someone in our tiny town snapped this pic):

This is hilarious (and I want this shirt):

This cracked me up (even though it was more relevant last week):

This is just so wrong (but funny – and why wouldn’t ‘vegetarian ham’ taste like ham instead of chicken? Real people wanna know!):

  1. Seems weird being December! 2020 has been… strange. I don’t have a tree up yet, and I just starting shopping today (online). Have a great week!

  2. Vegetarian ham that tastes like chicken sounds awful, but your decorations sound fabulous. Hope you had a great Tuesday!

  3. I was ready for Black Friday, but honestly there just wasn’t really anything out there that I was interested in. Normally I at least look to pick up a few guitar accessories but every list I looked at was the same stuff that’s always on sale. I guess everyone was already trying to get money out of a faltering economy all year, and come Black Friday it was like “here’s more of the same, please for the love of jeebus give us money”.
