Smoke Disperses; School Routine; Random Funnies: Random Tuesday Thoughts

September is clipping along at a fast pace – I just realized it’s time to break out the fall decor to jazz things up around here. Of course with the inundation of smoke, that sort of was a mitigating factor of not putting out the decor, since our air was hazardous, so limited outdoor activities for sure.

And since our house was built in 1930, we don’t have central air – so to cool things off on the warmer days, we strategically open windows. We didn’t do as much of that during the smoky days, though, but smoke was still getting in. We do have window A/Cs in the bedrooms (we definitely prefer cooler temps for sleeping at night – if it’s too warm, sleep is elusive) so while the bedrooms were kept cool, the smoke was also kept out.

It was disconcerting to exit the bedrooms and smell smoke, though, even without having any windows open. Crazy how that just creeps in willy nilly. Like spiders. Spiders are showing up randomly – and never the same ‘type’ from one spider to the next. I hate spiders with the burning passion of a thousand suns, so if you hear girl screams coming from my house, you’ll know I’ve encountered a spider. 😏

Oh, and we finally got some decent rain late last week, so the smoke has mostly dissipated from our area – so thankful for clean air again!

Little Dude has gotten into a good routine for his remote learning, keeping up on his assignments. Princess Nagger’s online school officially started yesterday (Monday) after 2-1/2 weeks of randomly scheduled orientation. Of course that means the ‘tude has made a reappearance, slightly more annoying than the typical teen ‘tude… 🤷

Time now to move on to the – this cracked me up:

This is so true:

One of these things is not like the others… One of these things just doesn’t belong… Can you tell which thing is not like the others… By the time I finish my song?

About StacyUncorked

After 20+ years in the Corporate World and years of infertility, Stacy was surprised when Princess Nagger made her miraculous appearance - deciding to forgo the career and stay home was a no-brainer. As if her hands weren't full enough, 8 years later she and her husband added Little Dude through adoption, adding a whole new dimension (of crazy) to their family and even more sleepless nights. When she’s not refereeing kids, dogs and cats, she loves to write, hence the reason she decided to start her little blog, and because she never got a baby book to mark milestones, this was the next best thing. She also enjoys doing reviews and giveaways for products she or her family would willingly use and can stand behind. She loves to cook and try new techniques to turn ordinary into extraordinary. Crafty by nature, she takes on a lot of unique projects and enjoy seeing the end result. Her favorite, of course, is making her award winning wine out of fruits and grapes. Experiments with water currently underway.

  1. Righteous indignation, indeed! May your children stay on task, your air stay clear, and your week be blessed.

Thanks for the great funnies, now i want eggnog and Halloween candy.

  2. Stacy,

Glad to read the air quality is improving in your neck of the woods. Teen ‘tudes are a pain in the dairyaire! I found with ours, especially the girls, extended well into adulthood (30 & 32). Just when I think I see signs of improvement, there’s a setback. I know, you’re saying, “Why did Cathy have to tell me all of this?” I felt it my duty to prepare ya. Of course, you may have better luck than me and PN will grow out of this phase sooner than later. 😉 Thanks for the random giggles. Nothing brightens the day then having a smile put on my face. Have a great day, dearie!
