August, Anniversary, Remote School and Random Funnies: Random Tuesday Thoughts

Hello August! First Tuesday of August – wonder how this month will go?

Did you know they have a Advent Calendar? I know, right?!

Of course I had to pre-order it – Princess Nagger is thrilled. I’ll be sure to post about it when it gets here this fall/winter.

Today happens to be my 17th wedding . I know, right?! We met in 1997 (after communicating via email and phone for 6 months, so really we met/have known each other since 1996, but didn’t get married until 2003). He lived in San Francisco, me in Seattle, so visiting was a quick airplane trip – well, back then it was, I’m sure it’s much more of a hassle these days since 9/11.

This was way back in ’97 when we were dating:

We got married by the J&P on August 4th, then had a combo housewarming/surprise wedding at the 1817 farmhouse we’d just bought in PA. I even got decked out in a wedding dress and had a bunch of bridesmaids – my sister was the photographer for that, so luckily she used an actual film camera, which means I have the pictures safe and secure (unlike all my digital images that are stuck on a dead auxiliary drive…booo!) Anywho – at some point I’ll have to scan them to share them, won’t I?

We never get any pics of ourselves ever together (gonna have to remedy that!) since the hubby is camera shy – though someone grabbed this shot of him when he recently played at a small outdoor event a few weeks ago (with a social distancing requirement for the event):

He was just happy he got to play music for a few hours! Since everything is still not yet open, we’ll be getting take-out for our anniversary dinner. While I love to cook, it is nice to have a break every so often!

They announced just yesterday that our local schools will be remote only in the fall. Poor Little Dude. Though I appreciate that they’ll be making it closer to the ‘in person’ schedule (in other words, he’ll need to be in his online class at specific times every day so as not to be counted absent). During the spring, they were kind of floundering, so it was kind of ‘make sure you do this many hours for this class per week, and turn in whatever assignments for a pass/fail grade).

With Little Dude’s and myriad of other psychological issues, this will be an interesting year. I’m just glad the hubby will be working from home as well (his college is also doing the online classes, with one day per week for labs under very strict guidelines) so he can take the lead on monitoring Little Dude’s school stuff.

I don’t know about you, but I’ll be so very happy when this all becomes a distant memory and things go back to ‘normal’ – whatever that actually looks like.

Enough already – I’m late getting this posted, so let’s to the , shall we?

  1. Happy Anniversary Stacy! The years really fly by, don’t they? It does feel like this Covid-19 stuff is going to linger on forever and it really sucks but I know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel…somewhere. I betcha things will drastically improve after the election, what do you think? You have to wonder about these things. You shared some great funny memes. The summer fashion meme really got me and the cat catching the red dot is pretty good, too. Keep that humor comin’! We all need to take our minds off the mess this world is in from time to time. Stay safe and be well, my friend!

  2. A very, very Happy Anniversary to you!!!

Thank you for the great funnies, and i do hope things loosen up a bit so your Little Dude will be able to do more than just stay home and get his schooling finished.

  3. Great funnies! That one about dislocating the shoulder, so true! The giraffe reminds me of the cat pants picture I put up today. I vote for the picture on the right. Sorry about school. I can’t believe it, but teachers go back in one week. It’s ridiculous! And they have to accommodate each and every learner’s preference: in person, online, or a hybrid of the two. Yes. Three preps. I’m so glad I retired in December.I’ll be glad when this is over, too. Happy anniversary!
