For those of you who had a long weekend, I hope it was a good one! I’ve been saving up for a pellet smoker, and finally bought one last week – poor UPS driver had to bring them up to our deck, one of the four boxes weighed 112 pounds all by itself! I’ll have to time one of my smoking events to coincide when that particular driver comes for another drop off and share some of the vittles with him as a thanks for being so awesome not to leave the 4 heavy boxes at the bottom of the steps.

I did the Maiden Voyage on it this weekend, picked up some hefty ribs and smoked them silly:

They turned out super yummy – though my family agrees that my own personal rub recipe is better than the one I decided to use, so I’ll use mine next time. 😉 Now I’m looking up all the things I can smoke – Princess Nagger really wants me to smoke some salmon, so that’s definitely on the list.

Our county here in Washington is one of the few counties that have been given the green light to go ahead and move into “Phase 2” of reopening. Hopefully everyone will follow the ‘rules’ for that, so that we don’t have a resurgence of infections and deaths. Our numbers specifically for our county have been low, so that’s a very good thing.

Our local barber shop is readying itself for the influx, though they will be following the specific guidelines with social distancing (clients will need to wait out in their car until it’s time for their appointment, rather than the typical filled waiting area with people chatter-boxing away). I’m looking forward to finally seeing my hairdresser – my last appointment was way back in mid-November!

I had an appointment scheduled just before the ‘rona hit and everything shut down, but my awesome hairdresser was a million months pregnant and was having early contractions, so we postponed. Then the shutdown happened, she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy during quarantine, but is looking forward to getting back to work. Not sure if she’s as excited as I am for her to work her magic on my hella hair…heh!

How are things shaping up where you are? Is your state doing the ‘Phase’ openings?

Let’s move on to the funnies, shall we? Waiting for word from my hairdresser on when we can finally reunite, this is hilarious:

  1. Texas is opening in phases, but not everyone is following the rules. I have to wonder why Montana is still closed. They only had 19 deaths. Not that those 19 people aren’t important. They are. But if our state had such a low number, I feel like we would never have completely closed. Loved your funnies. I’ve seen the one about the temperature. Squiger cracked me up as did the fortune teller who was closed due to unforeseen circumstances. Haha!

  2. We need that cat that knows how to play with his own toy.

Thanks for the great funnies, and stay safe!
