Final Tuesday of January! How’s the new decade treating you so far? It’s been so busy over here, January has pretty much flown by in a blur – I’m gonna need to slow down a little and enjoy 2020, aren’t I? I mean, it only comes around once in a lifetime, no?

Both kids start a brand new semester today (or do they call them ‘term’ now?) so some of their classes have changed for the remainder of the school year – Princess Nagger was having trouble with 3D art, because the software required to do that class wouldn’t run on any of the 3 computers we tried it on (including the laptop the virtual school sent for the school year use…things that make you go ‘hmmmmm!’).

Because of that, she was given the option to pick a different class for this next semester – she chose ‘Forensic Science’, so I’m just as excited as she is to see what that’s all about. You know my love for CSI type shows will come in handy, right?

Little Dude’s Band and Choir classes are being replaced with ‘Sports History’ and ‘Digital Communication Tools’ respectively. Don’t ask me what they are, exactly, I have no idea! This should be an interesting Term 3 and 4 for sure!

So sad about the helicopter crash this weekend that not only claimed the life of Kobe Bryant and his 16 year old daughter, Gianna, but 7 other people as well:

Top row from left: Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant (Kobe’s oldest, his 16 year old daughter), Payton Chester, Sarah Chester (daughter and mother – Payton played basketball with Brianna).

Bottom row from left: pilot Ara Zobayan, Alyssa Altobelli, Kerri Altobelli, John Altobelli (John coached at Orange Coast College for 27 years, just last year he was named ABCA/Diamond National Coach of the year. He was with his wife and daughter), and Christina Mauser (girls basketball coach at a private elementary school, was working with Kobe at a clinic at Mamba Sports Academy – she leaves behind her husband and 3 young children).

Word has it that the fog was the issue that ultimately caused the crash. Life’s short – you never know when it’s your time, no matter what age. My heart goes out to all their families.

Because life is short – we need some humor to bring up the mood, don’t we? This is hilarious:

  1. Your kids’ new courses sound like fun, especially forensic science! Here’s to a successful finish to the school year. Great funnies, especially the last one!

    1. Hope the rest of the school year brings excitement and learning, and thanks for the funnies!

  2. Stacy,

Thanks for the update on who else was involved in Sunday’s helicopter crash. Truly sad. Your humor brightened me up, though. The formal baby shot cracked me up! I had to laugh out loud over the essay written by the 5th grader. Of course, the woman did all the work and she got those stinky men to Pacific coast because she didn’t have to worry about getting lost. She knew to ask for directions. 😉 Have a giggletastic week, my friend!
