This is it! Christmas week! Ready or not, it’s here! Hope you all are ready – I spent all day Saturday wrapping gifts, myself. This is the first year in a long time I haven’t had a chance to watch Christmas movies like I love to do – at least I got a few binge watching ones in on Saturday while I wrapped presents!

Meanwhile, it’s Monday, and Monday means music! For the whole month of December our honorary co-host shall be… “Santa Claus” and the whole month of December shall be Christmas tunes or Christmas related! Let’s get this party started!

Let’s start with an artist who is getting in the Christmas spirit with his new song that name drops all the holiday classics that have come before:

Listenin’ to Bing Crosby by the fire / Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Mariah / Turn off that Michael Bublé / Turn on that one movie about the kid who licked the telephone pole on the Blu-ray

The artist is quoted as saying:

“At some point every holiday season, while watching Home Alone and drinking hot chocolate, the same idea hits me. ‘You are the second grown rap version of Kevin McCallister. Now act like it and make a Christmas song.’ So I did.”

About the video he said:

“[The music video] has the holiday spirit in every frame. The true purpose and meaning of Christmas. To give, to celebrate and to take back that sweater and end up with store credit at Macy’s. We must not forget the magic and that in the end it’s all about giving.”

Get ready to get into the Christmas Spirit, here’s Macklemore featuring Dan Caplen with “It’s Christmas Time”:

Next up is a throwback yuletide track that was inspired by a holiday break that this artist spent with her family in Copenhagen, Denmark. She loved the different traditions that the Danes have to celebrate Christmas; special chocolates, Christmas beer, real candles on the Christmas tree, and dancing around the tree. She said:

“It’s something you can’t buy. It’s just a feeling.”

The song was originally exclusively on Amazon Music in November 2018. It quickly found an audience, peaking at #23 in the UK and #53 in the US. The song was distributed to all platforms on November 1, 2019.

The festive video adds some new flavor to Christmas traditions, with the artist portraying “Merry Perry, Santa’s second wife.” The two take off for a tropical holiday, where they are joined by a snowman, reindeer, elf and other holiday pals.

Get ready to be entertained, here’s Katy Perry with “Cozy Little Christmas”:

Next up is an American Idol runner-up I was rooting for the year he competed. For the video of this cover of NSYNC’s holiday classic “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays,” he got some help from two members of the boy band themselves.

Lance Bass and Chris Kirkpatrick join him in the festive, lighthearted clip. The video features the artist hosting a holiday party with friends, which includes activities like cookie decorating, karaoke, and charades. Chris and Lance end up hilariously crashing the party. The artist was quoted as saying:

“I was so stoked that Lance and Chris were willing to make an appearance in my video of their song that’s becoming a classic Christmas song. I wasn’t sure if they’d say yes, but I’m so glad that they were up for it and having some fun. It’s meant to be cheesy and light, and I hope people will get a kick watching it.”

Chris added:

“Everyone was so much fun to work with. It was great to relive this song and do it with one of my best friends on the planet, Lance.”

Lance was quoted as saying:

“It’s an honor to have David’s incredible voice cover this iconic song. Shooting this was so fun, but now I will have this ear-worm of a song in my head for the next 6 months. Thanks, David.”

Get ready for some fun, here’s David Archuleta with “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays”:

Last, but certainly not least, a song from a Canadian singer/song-writer. I haven’t found much information on her, but I ran across her version of this song when I was looking for the Charlie Brown Christmas version. I fell in love with her sound (and her dog – gotta love her dog), so this one is the one I’m sharing.

Without further ado, here’s Daniela Andrade with “Christmas Time Is Here”:

That’s a wrap for this week – see you on the dance floor!

Merry Christmas!

  1. Stacy,

Merry Christmas to you, darlin’! I hope you and your family have a joyful and blessed holiday. 🙂 Katy Perry is a character. I love how she’s all girlie! I loved the intro to this young artist, Daniela Andrade. She did a fab job on ‘Christmas Time is Here’. I noticed beneath her video on YT she has a Christmas album which I listened to. She keeps the same breathy soft vocals through the playlist which I liked. I might have to like her FB page and keep an eye on this new talent. Thanks for the share, my friend!

  3. Daniela Andrade and her dog were just too cute for words (so relaxing) and I enjoyed the glitter of Katy Perry. I hope you had a good Christmas holiday and I also send wishes for a Happy New Year.
