My sister Merri is making progress day by day – I think she’ll be at the Neuro Critical Care Unit another week, then we’ll hopefully be able to relocate her to a great rehab facility closer to the family. I’m still waiting to hear about the CT scan she was supposed to have earlier today (Monday), because of that looks good, she’ll have the brain drain removed and she’ll be able to not have her left hand wrapped up to thwart her from pulling out the drain.

She’s still unable to move her right side, but she’s making progress on being able to sit up without being propped up, and with help can stand on her own for short bursts. The physical therapist is awesome – in fact, everyone at the NCCU has been outstanding and taking really good care of her. I believe they are the reason she’s been making the progress she has so far.

My brother spent some time with her on Saturday – they’re twins, so it’s hit him even harder, what with that twin connection, and especially with this happening so soon after the passing of our dad. I’m looking forward to seeing her free from all the tubes and her hand no longer wrapped:

That’s Michael and Merri – the twins. Our birthdays are in 3 weeks – I’m hoping once Merri is released from NCCU and gets moved to a facility closer to all of us, that she continues to work hard with PT and is able to join us in our joint birthday celebration. If she can’t travel, we’ll simply have to bring the celebration to her! 🙂

And said in the comments:

Seagulls were scattering. One let out a call that I have not heard before. Turned to see why they were scattering and found out quickly.

Seagull was able to get away. Seagull was able to take off after the eagle had left.

Amazing.

Let’s move on to the funnies, shall we? Saturday is TEDx in Seattle, so I thought this was particularly funny:

  1. This is the first of hearing about your sister. Not sure what’s going on but I’ll keep her in my prayers. I’ve seen a lot of memes with that lady screaming and the cat; I’m curious where it originated from.

  2. It’s great to hear your sister is making progress, i will pray that drain comes out soon and she will be able to celebrate with everyone. Even if you have to take the party to her, i want her to participate, and maybe you can post an Awww Monday photo when it happens.

    Thanks for the great funnies!
