December is here! That means Christmas is right around the corner. But first, my birthday is next Sunday (the 9th)! My mom is having a get together at her new house for me and my brother (his birthday is 3 days after mine) so it’ll be fun to do something special on my actual birthday for once.

I’m running behind on decking the halls – I know I promised some pics this week, but the tower of Christmas decor boxes has formed a nice wall between the dining room and living room, and is a bit intimidating until I tackle it. Which I’ll be doing this week for sure, because I really need to make this house look festive!

Years ago, I used to wait until after my birthday to decorate for Christmas – you know, that whole thing of making sure my birthday doesn’t get smushed into Christmas (I can’t tell you how many gifts I got that were accompanied by the statement “This is your birthday and Christmas present!”) so keeping them separate was my mission. But as I’ve gotten older, I realized that since I do like to go ‘all out’ decorating this time of year (I mean, I do collect deer, so my decor is heavy on the deer theme….heh!) I might as well enjoy it for longer than just a couple of weeks, right?

Plus, it helps make my birthday actually feel more ‘festive’ with all the lights and fun decor. I’m a member of a “buy nothing” page on Facebook for the local area – several people have put out a plea for Christmas decor because they’re either just starting out or starting over, and have nothing. So I figure this is the perfect opportunity to go through my scads of decor and whittle down the stuff I no longer use and help some others out with their decorating needs.

Besides, the parameters of our house are different for decorating than our house was in PA, and our previous house here in WA, so I’m brainstorming what to keep and what to gift. That way it will also be easier to plot and plan subsequent years of decorating, which will make my life easier if I know what goes where, and reducing the stacks’o’boxes will help with storage, too.

OK, I’ve rambled on enough – let’s get to the funnies, shall we? I thought this was hilarious, considering I’m approaching another life chapter on Sunday:

You gotta love this:

This is hilarious – and so true, based on the perpetual ‘Black Friday Week‘ and ‘Cyber Monday Week‘:

I saw this on Facebook with the description “forget about jesus in your toast, my friend just found the goddess in her orange! blessed be!!”

This cracked me up:

As did this:

I thought this was hilarious:

This is funny:

I bet our dogs think the same thing:

I’m going to save this for years down the road when I’ll have a chance to be a grandparent, at least I have plenty of time to come up with something clever and cool:

I admit, I may have snorted when I saw this:

I love this:

This is hilariously punny:

And finally, I’m going to leave this right here for you – I love the creativity!

That’s a wrap for this week – you know the drill, link up and join in the fun, everyone is welcome, random or not. And that means even if you don’t have a specific Random Tuesday Thoughts Rebel post posted, you can still link up, I’m not picky. You don’t even have to add the badge, just link up so I can come harass you on your blog. I promise to play nice.

  1. We have a member of the family with a December birthday, and i was always very careful to get her two gifts. They might be two parts of a matching set (for example, when she was little, a particular doll on her list as one gift, and lots of accessories as her second), but it was two separate gifts with different wrap and everything.

My body asks if i’m dead yet on occasion, too. As for the dog, ours would agree, and i turned off auto-correct a long time ago.

Thanks for the funnies, i hope you have a fabulous Tuesday!

  2. LOL at Santa, Satan, and Santana. My office is having a party and I want to get an ugly Xmas sweater but I am torn between the one that has pics of demonic Santa or the one for “Sleigher” and instead of the real album name, Reign in Blood, it says Reindeer Blood and a deer sitting in a chair in a pool of blood. I know it’s awful but it’s also my way of sticking it to coworkers that I am disgruntled with. It also does fulfill the ugly sweater requirement.

  3. Well Happy Birthday to you too! and glad you get to celebrate with your brother and mom!

I have not added any decor to our house as yet. Ouch. I feel the odd grinchy.
Here’s to a festive birthday celebration!
