Today (Tuesday) marks 17 years since the 9/11 tragedy. Still feels like yesterday. Before we get into the Random and funnies, let’s take a moment to remember and reflect, shall we?

I’m happy to report that the first week of school for the kids has been successful. Some of you know that Little Dude suffers from ADHD, ODD (Oppositional Defiance Disorder), DMDD (Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder), and Sleep Disturbances (in that he’s lucky if he gets anywhere from 2-4 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period of time. I’d be dead if that were me!!)

Anywho – his brand new teacher (she was a student teacher last year) has reported that he’s doing very well. Here’s hoping his usual ‘Honeymoon Period’ continues throughout the year.

Last week he hadn’t started yet when I posted my random, so this week I promised a comparison of last year and this year’s First Day of School pictures. Ready?

Last year, starting Grade 4:

This year, starting Grade 5:

He’s definitely gotten taller! The boy can sure eat, too, though you wouldn’t think that based on his rather small frame. That’s one of his brand new shirts – typically a 10 year old boy would be wearing size 10/12, right? That’s an 8, and he’s swimming in it! Sheesh! But now I’ve probably invoked Murphy’s Law, and all the new school clothes I got him will end up not being worn, as he’ll have some sudden growth spurts and grow right out of them, pronto! heh!

So this week is a crazy week, I’m scheduled for surgery on Thursday. Luckily it’s outpatient surgery, so I’ll find out between noon and 4pm on Wednesday what time I’m scheduled in Seattle on Thursday. Luckily the hubby’s off work for another week-and-a-half, so he’ll be my chauffeur on Thursday. Which I’m sure he’s not looking forward to, considering it’ll probably take us 3 hours to get to downtown Seattle from where we live because of traffic going into Seattle.

I’m just hoping traffic won’t be bad on the return trip, that long drive will seem even longer when I’m still on the effects of the anesthesia and will be wanting to get home to sleep some more. Huh, I spelled anesthesia right – I had to look it up, because even though spellcheck didn’t highlight it, it looked funny to me.

It’ll probably look even funnier on Thursday, am I right?

OK, so I know some of you asked yesterday what surgery I’m having, and I haven’t had a chance to answer yet. So I might as well tell you here. I’m actually having breast reduction surgery. I know, right? My boss was joking with me telling me that people pay good money to go the opposite direction…heh!

It’s been a blessing and a curse to be – er, um, ‘well endowed’ – but my back has considered it more of a curse than a blessing. Not to mention that after pregnancy and all that followed, along with my 100 pound weight loss over the last year, the girls are a little more on the troublesome side, so they’re getting reigned in.

And no, I couldn’t stop giggling as I wrote that last part.

You wanna know what I’m most looking forward to? Buying pretty bras again. I know, I know!! But hey, after years of dealing with the ever-changing letter size in bras (who comes up with the variances?! DD in one brand, DDD in another, E or H in another – hard to keep them straight! Oh look! I made a funny!)

OK, moving on… Of course I’ll update you on the – ahem – fun – next week.

Let’s move on to the funnies, shall we?

I love this – our cats always get funny looks on their faces when we meow at them:

I thought this was punny:

This was floating around the interwebs:

Then someone answered with this:

Halloween is coming:

And finally, I’m going to leave this right here for you:

That’s a wrap for this week – you know the drill, link up and join in the fun, everyone is welcome, random or not. And that means even if you don’t have a specific Random Tuesday Thoughts Rebel post posted, you can still link up, I’m not picky. You don’t even have to add the badge, just link up so I can come harass you on your blog. I promise to play nice.

  1. Stacy,

Thanks for sharing what kind of procedure you’re having on Thursday. You’re right a lot of women are going the opposite direction from you. I only know of one other gal who needed to have breast reduction surgery before you. In the mid-80s I worked with this gal who quite petite and very top heavy. The weight was too much for her small frame to carry, so she elected to have the size to fit. The only thing I recall from her experience is they didn’t get her nipples back in the right place and she lost sensation in them. I don’t know if the latter got better over time but I know she felt self-conscious about her nipples being out of alignment. After gaining the added weight in my breasts (D cup) during pregnancies, I learned that having large breasts wasn’t very fun and was more than happy to go back to my normal ‘B’ size. Of course, I wouldn’t mind having a breast lift. I tell you, gravity is an ugly thing! *Arrrgh*

Your funnies put some smiles on my face. I love the Halloween Special! I think I’ll opt for the ‘really deep’ plan. After all, I don’t want the dogs to dig up what I want to keep buried. 🙂

    You’ll be in my prayers, dear friend. If you don’t feel like boogieing on Monday, then feel free to excuse yourself from the dance floor. Take it easy and get plenty of rest! {hugs}

  2. Your good looking Little Dude is going to be a Big Dude before long.

Praying your surgery goes well. Having back trouble from being overly endowed is not funny, i am glad you are able to do this. Also i will pray it all goes well and you recover quickly.

Great funnies, and i am going to have to show the Flamingo meme around here, the pink flamingo is the official mascot of one of the Mardi Gras parades nearby and is considered year-round decor.

  3. You can tell your son has gotten older: he’s lost a lot of the “little boy” look and looks more mature. Good looking kid; I hope he does well this year.
