Do my eyes deceive me? Are we speeding towards the end of August already?! Someone really needs to find that pause button! The kids have two more weeks of summer, and the hubby’s summer break just started yesterday, with him off until the third week of September. Needless to say, even with the kids going back to school in two weeks, the interruptions will continue until the hubby goes back to work…heh!!

It’s crazy how the entire west coast seems to be on fire – we’re in the middle of an Air Quality Alert through dinnertime on Wednesday – the hazy smoke is so bad, that the sun has looked orange in the sky. I’ll have to take some pictures tomorrow – even though it’s been hazy as the fires burn from California to Canada, since we haven’t had any rain in a long time, the smoke has gotten worse – and thick like fog. Crazy! Here’s hoping all the firefighters fighting the blazes stay safe, and that rain comes soon to help put out those fires.

I forgot to share this picture from last week – this is what the sunrise looked like when it was a little cloudy and the smoke was starting to move in:

I’ll have to take pictures tomorrow of how thick the smoke has gotten since then. See the tree in the right hand side of the picture? The hubby and I were sitting on our deck on Sunday and saw this:

The edge of our property drops off as a cliff, and that tree is in the backyard next to the cliff of our neighbor’s property below (so it’s a very tall tree). We were startled to see a guy climbing up the tree, weilding a hack saw and chain saw. I texted my neighbor below, sending her a picture and said “Did you know there’s some dude in your tree?” She texted back telling us it’s her 76 year old father-in-law.

76!! Holy moly! He was climbing that tree like an energetic teen! Well, OK, maybe not that energetic, but you gotta give the guy props for being determined to bring that tree down. It’s a nuisance tree, and the neighbors were worried that at some point it might come down on their house as it was leaning in that direction. Smart to take it down!

He climbed as high as he could, hacked off a bunch of limbs with a hacksaw and a few bigger ones with a chain saw, and he got that tree down before dark. My neighbor and I kept texting jokes back and forth during that time – I love that we have great neighbors here.

I also love that her father-in-law’s impromptu decision to take the tree down (it wasn’t planned) also opened up our view. The hubby’s happy his flight path for his drone is now clearer…heh!

And now on to some funnies:

I absolutely love this:

This is funny:

I bet everyone knows someone who overdoes it with the perfume or cologne:

One guy I worked with years ago, I’d always joke that we could smell him coming, because he seemed to marinate himself in his cologne before coming to work.

This cracked me up – very clever advertising:

This is funny and true:

You know how we complain about how this generation seems to be anti-social looking at their phones all the time? Well check this out:

And finally, I’m going to leave this right here for you:

  1. Where was he when i was paying tree companies big bucks to take our trees down? Wow, he’s amazing.

My brother-in-law tends to marinate in his scent. As for the boys and the hair cut, one has a dimple in his chin and the other has slightly smaller ears, so i think the teacher will be able to tell.

  3. It’s a pity you don’t have a donate button! I’d certainly donate to
this fantastic blog! I suppose for now i’ll settle for bookmarking and adding your RSS feed to my Google account.
I look forward to fresh updates and will talk about this
blog with my Facebook group. Chat soon!

  4. These were really funny. The first one (about the dinosaur) was kind of sad in a way. My husband grew up as a dinosaur “freak” years before dinosaurs became super popular. And he will still read a good (adult) book on them when he gets the chance. No one ever asks him what his favorite dinosaur is anymore!

  5. Okay, that Photo Express ad was priceless! I’ll have to start coming by again for Random Tuesday. I miss all my blogging buddies, but can’t seem to keep up with it, either. Such is life!
