Well hello, Monday! It’s a brand new month! And this week is of course the 4th of July – anyone else already done with the premature fireworks lighter-uppers that stress out the dogs, cats, and kids? I love the 4th of July, and I love awesome fireworks shows, but the random blowing up stuff leading up to the 4th of July can be quite disconcerting. I was going to say ‘annoying’, but I didn’t want to be one of those people… you know, the cantankerous “get off my lawn!” people…heh!!

Meanwhile, it’s Monday, and Monday means music! This month’s Honorary Conductor is Michelle of Musings and Merriments with Michelle! Her theme choice for this week is aptly “Patriotic Songs (re: the 4th)”. Grab your favorite tune(s) and dance along with us, won’t you? Let’s get this party started!

First up is an artist who released this song on July 2, 2013, stating that it’s no coincidence it was released just before the Fourth of July. She was quoted as saying:

“I’m proud. I know it sounds really cheesy, but I’m proud to be an American. And I’m really proud of my country and how far we’ve come. It’s a great love song. It’s basically about falling in love in the best country ever.”

DemiLovato

Give a listen to Demi Lovato with “Made in the USA”:

Next up is a song that celebrates the spirit of America’s young people. The song celebrates the spirit of youth across America. There is so much more to being alive than partying, tailgates and bonfires – it’s every single detail of being young, growing up, remembering when, laughing about how, but especially knowing you can still do all those things.

The artist was quoted as saying:

“The spirit of this thing – the song, the bus, the idea of the kids riding around, having fun, playing music and just celebrating life – makes you want to get involved. Fun is where and how you make it. Out in the sun with a bunch of friends – and the people who work on my videos have been making them with me for more than a decade – even buckets of paint and a bus that needs to be covered can give you a reason to have fun.”

KennyChesney

Without further ado, here’s Kenny Chesney with “American Kids”:

Next up is a song that the artist was doing a Grease tribute with the music video, as well as paying tribute to her parents’ courting days.

MileyCyrus

Give a listen to Miley Cyrus with “Party In The U.S.A.”:

Last, but definitely not least, is a patriotic song that’s a pick-you-up and make-you-pump-your-fists-and-sing-along kind of song. Bet you’ll be singing along.

RodneyAtkins

Here’s Rodney Atkins with “It’s America”:

That’s a wrap for this week – have a great Monday, and a Happy and Safe Fourth of July!

Now on to the particulars of Monday’s Music Move’s Me:   PhotobucketI have the supreme honor and privilege of being a co-host with the inimitable Xmas Dolly and our musical cohort, the awesome Cathy from Curious as a CAThy, and while our beloved Callie of JAmerican Spice is taking a break, our friend Michelle from Musings and Merriments with Michelle is helping out with hostess duties! And, for the month of July, Michelle is also our Honorary Conductor and Spotlight Dancer!

  1. Way ta go girlfriend! Love Demi’s song. I never heard it before much less saw the video. Very cool! Very cool indeed~~ sooooooooo you have a great fourth and be careful out there too. Oh and liked Kenney Chesney’s tune was hoppin’ along, but Miley… nah no longer a fan of hers. Personally sorry I think she’s just nasty!!! Have a fun fourth to y ou & yours. hugs

  2. Stacy,

Hometown boy, Kenny Chesney, had me rockin’ to “American Kids”. It’s great to celebrate our nation’s birthday with you, ole pal. Y’all have a fun & safe Independence Day now! 😉

  3. Hey Stacy,
Hope you had a fun 4th of July. Here and gone already.
Great set of songs you picked for us. I really like Demi Lovato’s and Rodney Atkins. I had never heard his song before so that was cool to be introduced to that.
Kenny Chesney’s song is sweet too, especially the reason he put it together.
As for Miley, her song is good. I just don’t know how I feel about her these days. I go from liking her to not liking her to liking her again. She just needs to grow up some I guess and get some sophistication under her belt… 🙂

    Have a great week,

    Michele at Angels Bark

  4. I enjoyed the Demi Lovato song (faithfully waiting for her soldier love) and Rodney Atkins. I have to admit, with this Miley song I kept expecting her to come crashing through the set of the video on a wrecking ball – ah well, I know she is trying to turn herself around. Great selection; listened to the videos in the backward while birds cawed out at me. What could be better?

  5. Miley Cyrus drives me crazy. Every time she starts acting out, like at the Grammys a couple of years ago, I just want to give up on her. Then I hear her sing, and I love it. Makes me nuts.

    Great set!
