New Year Christmas Tree and New Year Resolutions with Fictional Characters: Random Tuesday Thoughts

Well, we’re officially one week in to the – how’s 2018 treating you so far? Over here it’s still as crazy as ever, like I’m juggling lots of balls at the same time – but so far I haven’t dropped any, so that’s a good thing, right?

My is still up – I just haven’t gotten motivated to take it down yet. Plus I kinda like saying “Alexa, turn the on” in the morning, which she does, followed by an “OK”. I got a smart plug and an Echo Dot for my birthday from my BFF, so I’ve been having playing. I’ll have to figure out what else I’ll have to plug into the smart plug to have Alexa control for me.

Besides, with how bright this tree is, I’m going to have to get some lamps or something to brighten the living room up more, or it will seem kind of dark when I take this down:

I ran across this hilarious of Ficitional Characters by the Elodie over at SparkNotes – I thought you guys would appreciate the humor. Elodie wrote:

“There’s just something about the dawning of a new age that makes people want to resolve to do better. It doesn’t matter that most of us will be eating half our weight in Cheetos before the day is done, our promise to go to the gym long forgotten. We like the idea of fresh starts and clean breaks. It’s human nature.”

“And here’s the thing: fictional characters are no exception. They want to lose weight, learn a new language, and spend less money because at the end of the day, they’re just like us. So what kinds of things would they resolve to do? We have some thoughts.”

That’s a wrap for this week – you know the drill, link up and join in the fun, everyone is welcome, random or not. And that means even if you don’t have a specific Rebel post posted, you can still link up, I’m not picky. You don’t even have to add the badge, just link up so I can come harass you on your blog. I promise to play nice.

About StacyUncorked

After 20+ years in the Corporate World and years of infertility, Stacy was surprised when Princess Nagger made her miraculous appearance - deciding to forgo the career and stay home was a no-brainer. As if her hands weren't full enough, 8 years later she and her husband added Little Dude through adoption, adding a whole new dimension (of crazy) to their family and even more sleepless nights. When she’s not refereeing kids, dogs and cats, she loves to write, hence the reason she decided to start her little blog, and because she never got a baby book to mark milestones, this was the next best thing. She also enjoys doing reviews and giveaways for products she or her family would willingly use and can stand behind. She loves to cook and try new techniques to turn ordinary into extraordinary. Crafty by nature, she takes on a lot of unique projects and enjoy seeing the end result. Her favorite, of course, is making her award winning wine out of fruits and grapes. Experiments with water currently underway.

  1. I love those character resolutions! How fun is that? I wish my Christmas tree was still up, kind of. Everything is in the attic already, though, since I’m back to work. I love being in the same room with the lit tree.

  2. Stacy,

Hey, I still have our tree up, too. I just hate putting it away. The lights are so pretty. Years ago, DH set up our tree lights on dimmers to control the brightness. It works purrfectly. We prefer to have a softer glow. This year I even used one on my village which I loved! The fictional character new year resolution memes are a hoot, especially the one “Spend more time with your friends.” Julius Caesar. But…he was a real person, so that threw my brain a little this early in the morning. Was that a test or something? Where’s my coffee? Gotta have my coffee! 🙂 I definitely need to change some things about me this year but not all of me, though. I kinda like me the way I am, except for… There are things I don’t like and I’m going to work on those things I can change but it’s the usual stuff we all battle and It’ll take some time. Have a wonderful week and thanks for hosting the fun, my friend!

  3. May i suggest leaving the tree up and decorating it for every holiday, every season? It could work.

Yep, i can totally see those characters making those resolves! Thanks for the great laugh.

  4. I love those character quotes they are so perfect. We took about our tree last week as the recyclers offered free pick up on last Friday. I am too cheap to take it to the dump and pay for them to take it.

Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful week.

  5. Your post is soooo cool!!! I love the way you write! Got me sitting here in giggles!! 🙂 Thank you!! .. and by the way, Our Christmans tree is still up! (giggles) It just looks sooo pretty!!

  6. I’ve had an Echo Dot for about 14 months and I don’t do much with it anymore. It would be nice to have it turn the lights on and off, though. I loved the “fictional character New Years Resolutions” meme. Wish I had one to add!
