Holy cow! Another week flew by in the blink of an eye! And once again, I’m late to the party. Is that annoyingly late or fashionably late? I’m gonna pick ‘fashionably’, because I can.

So here we are, racing towards the holidays – crazy how the Christmas stuff pretty much started hitting the stores in September. One of my favorite holidays, Thanksgiving, kind of gets trampled in the shuffle between Halloween and Christmas. Poor Thanksgiving.

It’s a busy time of year for us, though – Little Dude just had a birthday, Princess Nagger’s birthday is next week, then comes Thanksgiving, then my birthday, then Christmas and New Year. No surprise I’ll be running around like a chicken with its head cut off for the next month or so. Having a birthday in December can be fun – but also gets lost in the shuffle. I think I need this t-shirt, though:

It’s pretty much spot-on.

But backing up – Halloween was interesting – apparently in this tiny town, they start trick-or-treating at 3:00 pm! The school let out every day last week at noon, it’s their annual fall Parent-Teacher Conference week, so it’s handy that Halloween happens to land during that week, too, so they can have the kids trick-or-treat while it’s still light out. Felt weird, though – I did post on the local Facebook board asking if they really did do the TOT at 3pm vs. the ‘normal’ 6pm to 8pm we were used to.

They apparently take the little kids around at 3, then the older kids do theirs starting at 5pm (or when people get home from work) and are out and about until 9pm. No one came up the hill to our house, though – I don’t blame them, it’s kinda dark up here, and this house was vacant for a couple of years, so it’ll take some time before people realize there’s some great treats to be had here….heh!

Little Dude and Princess Nagger walked down the hill to collect some treats – I found an awesome firefighter costume at the local thrift store I couldn’t pass up (seriously, this thing looks and feels like a genuine firefighter garb, unlike the el-cheapo one I got him when he was younger):

He had a growth spurt since I bought it, so it almost didn’t fit. But he loved it, and wore it anyway. Princess Nagger decided that since we live in what we’ve dubbed ‘Egg Town’, she would dress up as this character:

The character is “Jacket” from some online game she plays with her friends. There’s supposed to be a letter “B” on the jacket, but we didn’t find the ‘right’ one (according to PN), and I don’t have my embroidery machine set up yet, so she was fine without the letter.

I’ve mentioned before that I love fall – I especially love seeing all the colors of fall, particularly if it’s a nice view from my kitchen window:

Sure love that pop of color from our neighbors below!

Now for some random funnies:

And finally, I’ll just leave this right here:

That’s a wrap for this week – you know the drill, link up and join in the fun, everyone is welcome, random or not. And that means even if you don’t have a specific Random Tuesday Thoughts Rebel post posted, you can still link up, I’m not picky. You don’t even have to add the badge, just link up so I can come harass you on your blog. I promise to play nice.

  1. Loved that tornado theme! The kids look great in their costumes. Fall is my favorite time of year too but it seems that it’s been getting colder here. (and I don’t like that!)

  2. Those were great costumes for your children.

My firm belief is that all December babies deserve to celebrate their half birthdays in June or July, having a full party and everything, and just not worry about it in December. When i had a young child in my life with a December birthday, i would always make sure she got a full gift for her birthday and a separate something for Christmas, not one gift to cover both, even if it was more expensive. Nor did i get her the doll as one gift and accessories as the other. December babies get shorted too often, and i don’t abide by that!

As fo the glitter idea, i’d have to throw it on my Brother-in-Law, The Mouth, way too often for it to be practical.

  3. OMG, this is a fantastic post this week! I found myself with some free time this morning and thought I would swing by and am really glad I did.

Thanks for the laughs my friend. Hope all is well.

  4. I like it when the leaves change colors, but we got gypped this year. We had a nasty freeze go through early October and most of the leaves in town just turned brown and the wind blew them away without the color step.
    I like the spider funny!

  5. Look at you all having the halloween fun!

Indeed, the holidays just hurtle around here soon!

    Just breathe!

    Thanks for the laughs!
