Monday has arrived – as if you needed a reminder about that.  Princess Nagger has an orthodontist appointment this morning to have impressions done for retainers, because she’ll be getting her braces off in a few weeks! The two years flew by, that’s for sure! Of course, if you ask her that, she’ll deny it vehemently…heh.

Since it is Monday, it’s time for some music! This week’s theme is Tunes about Autumn – my favorite time of year! Though I have to say, the song choices for autumn were slim, seems the good ones are geared towards the other three seasons. But I did find some! So grab your favorite tune(s) and dance along, won’t you?

Let’s start with a song from one of my favorite artists – it fits in with the Autumn theme with autumnal lyrics:

I don’t know why all the trees change in the fall / But I know you’re not scared of anything at all / Don’t know if Snow White’s house is near or far away / But I know I had the best day with you today

It’s no secret this artist knows how to write a love song. But did you know her very best one is about her mom? The artist was quoted as saying:

“[This] is a song that I wrote without telling my mom. I wrote it in the summertime, and I recorded it secretly, too. I had this idea that I wanted to play it for her for Christmas. So when I got the track I synced up all of these home videos from when I was a little kid to go along with the song like a music video, and played it for her on Christmas Eve and she was crying her eyes out.”

The artist eventually went on to share her homemade video for the song, although the track was never released as an official single. Bonus: tons of video of this artist as an adorable baby!

Here’s the adorable Taylor Swift with “The Best Day”:

Next up we’re going to switch gears with one of my favorite classical pieces of my favorite season, autumn.

Give a listen to Vivaldi with “Autumn”:

Next up is an English singer-songwriter whose song boasts the lyrics:

Do you ever wonder if the stars shine out for you?
Float down
Like autumn leaves
And hush now
Close your eyes before the sleep
And you’re miles away
And yesterday you were here with me

I’d say that fits the theme, don’t you?

Here’s the talented Ed Sheeran with “Autumn Leaves”:

While looking for autumn songs, I stumbled across this Welsh alternative rock band that was formed in 1986. This song is the second single from an album released in 2007. It peaked and debuted at number 10 in the UK Singles Chart.

Without further ado, here’s Manic Street Preachers with “Autumnsong”:

That’s a wrap for this week – have a great Monday!

  1. Hey, that song by the Welsh band is really good! I like it. I never heard of them before. Manic Street Preachers: cool name.

I liked the outdoor acoustics and the nature sounds in Ed Sheeran’s song.
The Vivaldi was nice too. I have a hard time getting into classical music though. I guess I’m just not sophisticated enough…

I absolutely love that song and video by Taylor Swift. She’s so awesome! I’m so impressed with that girl. I bet her mother was blown away by that beautiful expression of love. And how cute was Taylor as a little girl? I loved the beginning where she and her mom are talking. so cute!

    Another great post Stacy!
    Have a fabulous week.

  2. Stacy,

Oh how sweet the Taylor Swift younger years video you shared! I wonder when she made this that she thought, who would’ve thought I’d be making a mewsic vid with old home movies? lol Mary shared Manic Street Preacher “Autumn Song” which was the first time for me to hear but it wasn’t until hearing it a second time this morning before the tune appealed to my ear. I reckon the coffee finally kicked in. lol Oh, snap, PN is getting her braces off! I can’t believe it’s been two years since she got ’em. Time really need zip by but I’m sure not so fast for her. 🙂 Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me today and have a tunetastic week, dear friend!

  3. That Taylor Swift video was so wonderful, and the scene of her fingerpainting brought back memories (believe it or not) of me fingerpainting either in nursery school or maybe kindergarten. But you REALLY rocked me with Autumn in New England. Classical music. Why not! Why not, indeed?

  4. You always amaze me with your selections. I love that you are able to come up with some good ones that I don’t always think of. Classical Music is so comforting to listen to. I should listen to more. I have a bunch on cassette that need to be transferred to digital .

  5. Well, I must say you have totally rocked the house girlfriend! I know this theme was a bit trying, but people really put on their thinking caps and did us proud! Everyone went well outta their way and totally ROCKED! Plus so did my girls thank you for being there to ROCK OUR WORLD! Big hugs and have a rockin week!
