Geez’o’peet, people! It’s been busy around here lately! So much so, no time for chit-chat right now, let’s dive on into the music, shall we? It’s a freebie week, so grab a favorite tune and come dance along! Just do it!

Let’s start with a newly released song from one of my favorite country artists – a mid-tempo tune with a steady beat that finds the artist musing about how there’s a steadying presence for every wild child out there. Check out some of the lyrics:

God made / Girls like you, make guys like me / Wanna reach for the brightest star, set it on a ring / Put it on your hand, grab a piece of land / And raise few / More girls like you.

The artist was quoted as saying:

“I’ve never been that guy looking for a relationship, and solitude has never scared me. I’ve never bought into the societal pressure of following the A, B and C steps of life, but I still look forward to the family chapter.

This song is about meeting that someone you find so amazing inside and out, that you can only pray the kids you have together are just as amazing as she is. That’s the kind of woman I hope to end up with.”

Next up is a new song by another favorite artist that is part nostalgia, part love story, and both parts definitely fit the 40-year-old singer well. Even when he’s not a co-writer, he is able to inject his personal experiences into song.

That comes easy on particular song – a song he did write, with lyrics that are sure to compel men to hold their women tight as he’s singing it live in 2017. The song is the sixth single from his latest album, and has real heart.

“Fast / That’s the kind of car you wanna drive when you’re sixteen / Fast / That’s the kind of boys that you want on your home team / Fast / Yeah, you think you’re gonna catch your big dreams just like that / Fast / And here you are, looking back.

Sixty seconds now feels more like thirty / Tick-tock, won’t stop, and ’round it goes / Sand through the glass sure falls in a hurry / And all you keep trying to do is slow it down / Soak it in, keep trying to make the good times last as long as you can . But you can’t, man / It just goes too fast.

Fast / That’s what your parents said when we were falling in love / Is too fast / There ain’t no way the two of us were ever going to last / But we did, and here we are, and our only problem is.

Looking at you looking out the window right now / Those eyes, that dress, that smile, that laugh / If I could hit pause I would somehow / But it don’t work like that.”

Here’s the inimitable Luke Bryan with “Fast”:

Next up is an unconventional team up between a country duo and favorite pop group. This song is one of the least gritty songs this duo has released, and it’s very enjoyable!

Last but not least is a song by an American DJ duo collaborating with a British band, the second single off the DJ’s debut album. It’s quite a catchy tune!

  1. Stacy, what an unlikely combo of artists – Florida Georgia Line & the BSB. They did a good job and enjoyed the harmony parts of the song the best. I liked the new-to-me dance tune of The Chainsmokers & Coldplay. I always find new mewsic on your site. Thanks, my friend! Here’s hoping you have a productive week unpacking and such! 😉
