Oh my lord in heaven it’s been busy around here! So much going on, I’ll have to fill you in later. Like tomorrow. Or sometime.

Y’all are going to think I’m crazy, but trust me, good things are coming. And I have lots of catching up to do with visits and replies to comments – I’m going to try to get that done this week, provided what we have going on right now doesn’t interfere too much.

I know, I’m such a tease not telling you what, but it needs to simmer a bit, first. Or more like my brain is needing to wrap itself around it first. You know, so I’m not talking a million miles a minute and leave your head spinning, too…heh!

Meanwhile, it’s Monday, and Monday is always made better with music, don’t you think? This week is a freebie week, so feel free to grab your favorite tune(s) and dance along, won’t you?

Let’s start with a song whose title may have you envisioning the Don Henley song of the same title, but this one is a tale of a man whose cheating ways are uncovered after his woman finds lipstick and wine stains on his clothes. The writers crafted an edgier sound than this country star’s previous material. The artist was quoted as saying:

“I want to grow, and I want to change, and I want my music to reflect that, and I felt like I just needed things to switch up a little bit in order to achieve that.”

The artist is singing in character in this one. She married a professional hockey player in 2010, but has plenty of previous relationships on which to draw from when she needs to get into the mind of a woman with a deceitful beau. She explained the song’s story-line in a video.

“It’s a take on a cheater in a familiar way, with the lipstick on the collar and the red wine, and, like, there’s all these telltale signs that he was with another woman, and it shows on his dirty laundry.

But it’s also, like, she airs it out for the whole world to see – you know, metaphorically and literally, airs his dirty laundry out to the world… She’s gonna tell everybody everything, every low-down, dirty thing that you did. So it is – it’s a woman fed up, but she does something about it, too: She kicks him out, and she also kind of ruins his reputation.”

Give a listen to the gorgeous and talented Carrie Underwood with “Dirty Laundry”:

Next up is a brand new release from the San Francisco roots rockers which is their first single from their forthcoming album, which will be out in early 2017.

This single is the first new music the Grammy-winning band has dropped since their 2014 album. The song incorporates the melody of the standard “Heart and Soul,” which every kid I know learned to play (including me) and is probably best known as the song that Robert Loggia and Tom Hanks danced to on that giant FAO Schwartz keyboard in the classic movie Big.

Without further ado, here’s Train with “Play That Song”:

Next up is some fun – after this late night talk show host shares his dream of bringing back proper boy bands, he surprises his audience with The Backstreet Boys and he joins them in performing “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).” I love it!

Next up is a new country artist who’s one to watch for sure. To me, this artist’s lyrics are feel good, American pride and while it could be considered cliché and overdone, I think it’s exactly what America needs right now. Something to make you remember those random little moments that make you proud of who you are and where you came from – everybody loves a little nostalgia.

Not only are the lyrics well written, the general rhythm of the song makes it easy to sing and dance along. The drum beat even signifies the best moments to clap along. And there’s something to be said about one of the people he’s singing about is named ‘Stacy’ – and even spelled right!

Grab yourself a pumpkin-spice flavored beverage and listen to this artist sing “we drive our Chevys, kiss our babies, watching football games…and it’s always gonna be that way”.

That’s the “American Way”.

Get up and dance, here’s Brandon Ray with “American Way”:

Last, but definitely not least, is a brand new song from my favorite artist. You might want to watch this video in the comfort of your own home, because you’re going to cry. Trust me on that one.

It’s a heartfelt song about those special moments in life you’ll never forget, so naturally it has a sentimental video montage to match. The clip is primarily a collage of home video clips, ranging from soldiers surprising their children to weddings and proposals, highlighting those days that, as the artist sings, “can get you through the rest of your life.”

The artist performs a gender reveal at a concert and facilitates several onstage proposals in a handful of clips, interspersed with footage of graduations, sports victories, pregnancy announcements and all those moments that make life worth living. There’s even a throwback to him running off stage at the CMA Awards, kissing his wife (and unborn child inside her tummy) before accepting his award.

  1. That’s interesting to have another song named Dirty Laundry, after Don Henley’s song. Also, those Back Street Boys don’t look like boys, anymore. Great song with fun choreography! Have a great Monday.
