Whoa Nelly! It’s already December 1st! Who has their finger on that fast-forward button? Just. Stop. Please.

So there’s 24 days until Christmas, yada yada yada. I am definitely not ready. Usually I try to have all my shopping and whatnot done by Thanksgiving, so I can sit back and enjoy the wild ride until Christmas.

And by ‘wild ride’, I mean celebrating my birthday which is coming up, and binge watching Hallmark Christmas movies while I wrap all the presents I made sure to get well in advance of the crazy shopping season.

Unfortunately, it seems that every year I’m less and less prepared. Don’t get me wrong – I have quite a number of gifts purchased already, so I’m well ahead of the game (in my head).

My only problem is trying to remember all my hiding places to actually wrap them before Christmas.

Apparently my hiding places are so well hidden to thwart any snoopy persons, that even I’m thwarted on locating them.

I think next year I should draw myself a treasure map and mark the locations of all the stashed gifts so I can find them in time for Christmas, and not end up finding them in the middle of next summer and go “Oh! That’s where I put that! Guess I’ll save it for next Christmas…” and promptly forget the new hiding place.

I’m pretty sure that falls into the category of “Blonde Moment”.

And easily distracted. Look! An Eagle!

FletcherBrothersEagleSelfie

Isn’t that the absolute best selfie you’ve ever seen in your life?

So these two brothers, Neil and Michael Fletcher, were hunting in Dowling, Ontario, when they spied a bald eagle stuck in a trap. The eagle had caught one of its talons in a claw trap used by fur trappers (he’s lucky it was just a talon – could have been much, much worse!).

These two smart guys shifted into stealth mode and slowly approached the bird, draping a sweater over its head to keep it calm while they freed its leg. It took some finagling, but they finally freed it from the trap – and realized this was most likely a once-in-a-lifetime chance for the most epic selfie ever.

They were right. Pretty cool, no?

Also cool is one of my all-time favorite actors – not only does he kill it as the Green Arrow (if you’re not watching Arrow on the CW – you must!!) but he’s always active on social media posting pictures of him encouraging his fans to meme them up for Monday Meme, as well as posting really awesome pictures showing off being the ultimate family man with his wife and adorable little daughter.

A couple of weeks ago he posted a Throwback Thursday picture just for his fans to meme up if they wanted to:

He was 12 years old at the time and had been at a family friend’s wedding – obviously he caught the garter. Still has the same brilliant smile then as now:

His kid picture totally made Princess Nagger feel better about her braces. Cool kids have braces for sure – and if Stephen Amell isn’t a cool kid, I don’t know who is.

It’s time once again for Leslie’s (aka Rory Bore) Tuesday Coffee Chat!

This week’s prompt or question is:

December 1st: Giving Tuesday! Will you participate?

It’s Giving TuesdayWill you participate?

I always participate in one way or another every year – this year not as formal as years past, simply making sure that the donations I’ve been gathering up get absolutely donated today in honor of Giving Tuesday. This year I’m just going to wing it, and give what I can, however I can. How about you?

That’s a wrap for this week – you know the drill, link up and join in the fun, everyone is welcome, random or not. And that means even if you don’t have a specific Random Tuesday Thoughts Rebel post posted, you can still link up, I’m not picky. You don’t even have to add the badge, just link up so I can come harass you on your blog. I promise to play nice.

  1. The braces photos, the eagle, how awesome! And I love your treasure hunt idea. I usually forget where I put things. Haha. Not ironic coming from forgetfulone. Have a great week!

  2. Gotta admit, that is one awesome selfie with the eagle! Christmas season seems like it came here way too fast. And it will be over before we know it. Can’t say I’ve ever watched Arrow.

  3. Ha! I have trouble with hiding places as well. We’re pretty much packed to the brim in this house and Christmas is when I really feel it. No places to hide anything!

  4. What a fantastic story. I love it. What a couple of great guys and brave ones too. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh chew. I’ve got a nasty cold and it won’t go away! I HATE BEING SICK, but thanks to my husband sharing guess what I got! sniff-sniff….. Thanks for sharing. I’m going back to bed.

  5. That epic selfie should be called.. “meanwhile in Canada..” LOL
so typical of around here. Last week we heard of someone freeing a coyote from barbed wire. Just life in the country I guess.
Thinking now I need to watch Arrow 😉
The thing with giving is every little bit helps. I mean, I have given $2 if that is all I had one people come to the door. And the truth is, it all does add up eventually.

  6. I’ll come navigate your house for you and find them presents 🙂

And yes that is the bestest selfie ever, unless it’s me with me and my kids havin fun 😀

I love actors who are real and down to earth.

    Aloha
