Guess where I am right now? Well, OK, not right now if you’re reading this when this post goes live Sunday evening – if that’s the case I’m probably running around like a chicken with its head cut off doing last minute packing and getting ready to leave for the airport in the morning.

But if you’re not reading this until Monday morning, I’m either on my way to the airport, getting through security (you know, having fun) at the airport, or winging my way to the islands of Hawaii. Yessiree, Princess Nagger and I are ditching the boys on this last week of summer to bask in the (hopefully) sunny tropical paradise.

Jealous, aren’t you? No worries, you can live vicariously through me either on Facebook or Instagram or both – I’m going to try to post daily in those locations whilst having some fun in the sun. Or stormy weather, if the 10-day forecast happens to be what it’s showing currently. Who cares though – we’ll be in Hawaii! Finally! I’ve always wanted to go, so I’m going to truly enjoy myself immensely.

Meanwhile, the show must go on! This week’s theme is a freebie, so I’m gonna have some fun with ‘flying’ tunes. You know I had to.

Let’s start off with one of my favorite Australian artists who liked his song because he said “It’s rootsy and cool and it’s got good swagger, and I thought it’d be really fun to play live.”

Written with Preston Brust and Chris Lucas (of LoCash Cowboys) and songwriter Jaren Johnston, this song became this artist’s 14th hit single, and LoCash Cowboys first #1 hit. While the song doesn’t do much to separate itself from many of this artist’s other uptempo hits, it certainly puts a big smile on your face from start to finish.

KeithUrban

Give a listen to Keith Urban with “You Gonna Fly”:

Next up is a song that tells the story of a guy who is left standing alone at the alter but finds the strength to forge ahead on a solo trip to Cancun. The artist is obsessed with planes, so this was the perfect song to co-write with friends.

The artist wrote and recorded the album this song is on in the year following the death of his father. The songs chosen for the record tell the ups and downs the singer went through, ranging from the loss of his dad to the birth of his third child.

The song’s music video was directed by Wes Edwards and conceived by the artist with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay of the website Funny or Die. The clip, which was shot in at Air Hollywood in a warehouse full of old planes in April 2014, stars the artist as the Captain for Riser Air.

The country star also plays one of the regular passengers, which also include various band members and friends recruited by him, including comedian Jeff Dye and actress Emma Fitzpatrick (The Collection).

This music video also won Video of the Year at the 2015 ACM Awards.

DierksBentley

Here’s the ever talented Dierks Bentley with “Drunk On A Plane”:

Next up is a song just for fun – the theme song for the new Hawaii Five-0. I’m really hoping I am able to find out which island they film it – I sure hope they’re on the Big Island this week so I can accidentally on purpose run into the awesome cast.

For your listening pleasure (and some eye candy), here’s the Hawaii Five-0 Theme Song:

Last but certainly not least, this song was inspired by and recorded to benefit the Special Olympics in association with the artist’s Foundation, whose charity provides support to children and youth living with serious illnesses or disabilities.

The artist was quoted as saying:

“This song means a lot to me personally. It is inspired by the many young people I’ve met throughout my work with my Foundation. They pursue their dreams no matter what obstacles they face.”

The video was created by the artist and Special Olympics in celebration of the Special Olympics World Games Los Angeles 2015.

AvrilLavigne

Without further ado, here’s Avril Lavigne with “Fly”:
