Not to make you panic or anything, but did you know there are only about 52 days left until Thanksgiving? Say what?!

I’m not even going to give you the number of days until Christmas. I don’t want major panic to ensue for you or me. If you’ve been reading me for a while, you know how much I love to cook and entertain, and cook for entertainment.

You can’t cook a decent meal without decent appliances though, right?  Thank goodness Best Buy has an awesome selection, especially after we discovered the movers had destroyed my precious stove during the move, reducing it pretty much to a pile of rubble.

It went from this:

Stove2

To this:

OldStove

OldStove2I was heartbroken. I loved  that stove, and it was barely a year old before those moronic movers manhandled it and destroyed it. I even went so far as to pricing out parts to fix it myself, but when the total reached the $500 mark, it was time send it off to rest in peace, because even if I did fix it, it would never ever be the same again.

Plus I was worried that it would become a fire hazard. We didn’t want to end up burning our new house down just because I loved the stove. Ahem.

You can only make so many meals with a crockpot or microwave, so we were on the search for a new stove. Plus, making my usual Thanksgiving feast would never happen without a stove. The destroyed one had always lived up to its awesomeness:

Stove4

Knowing the holidays are hectic enough with without having to worry about how manage a feast without a stove, I set out to find a replacement that would meet all my needs for year round as well as holiday entertaining.

I did my due diligence and shopped around, comparing models and features and prices. It’s so amazing to see all the newest and coolest appliances with technology that includes induction cooking which enables you to boil water in less than two minutes (hello?! sign me up!) like the Frigidaire FGIF3061NF:

Cooking Campaign Range

Isn’t that pretty? I love the thought that with induction cooking, if you get messy and spill something, it doesn’t burn on for extra clean up later, because the only part of the stove that heats up is what’s directly under the pan.

I also loved the convection feature on my old new stove, especially on those days when I needed something to bake faster than the norm.

What I really really liked, though, was an option to have a double oven right in the same range (so it can easily fit in the same footprint of your kitchen like a standard range), like the Whirlpool WGG555S0BS:

Cooking Campaign Range 2

It’s so nice to have the option to cook two dishes at two different temperatures at the same time! I looked at all the different stoves and options, and finally decided to get the double oven (and sadly, since I don’t have gas for my cooking, I couldn’t get the one pictured above, but did get the electric version):

NewStove2014

Isn’t that pretty? Ignore the hand print on the lower front left side, one of the awesome Best Buy delivery guys left it there, but it was easily cleaned off after they left – I was just too excited to do that before snapping a picture of my new beauty.

I love how easy it is to buy stuff like major appliances at Best Buy – I did all my research online first, then we decided to go into the store to look at the selections up close and personal. The guys in the appliance section were extremely helpful on my likes and dislikes and what I wanted.

They also thought it was funny I’d pretty much picked out the stove I wanted before going to the store, and knew more about it than they did, since it was a brand new product for them. They offered to check to make sure they had the absolute best price, because if they find it elsewhere cheaper, they will match the price.

I didn’t tell them I had already done that, I didn’t want to steal their thunder. They confirmed what I had already found, they had the absolute best price – especially since that particular weekend it was on sale. They entered the order for me right there, and gave me the lowdown on what to expect for delivery.

We were able to schedule delivery within two days (could have been next day delivery, but I had a scheduling conflict). You can’t beat it – free delivery and they offered to haul away the destroyed stove free of charge, too. Bonus!

I am really looking forward to putting my new stove through its paces this holiday season – I’ve been really enjoying the double oven feature, my gourmet wannabe cooking mode has expanded exponentially. Heh.

Bottom line – all of this technology will allow you to get the food the way you want it prepared and saves you time so you can spend it with the ones you love.  Learn more at bestbuy.com/holidayprep.

  1. I have always loved the appliances that I have purchased. Foremost, my love has been for my oven. These pictures you have posted have reminded me of many good thanksgivings. Cooking the perfect turkey is the pride of my holiday season.
