The kids are adjusting to their school and morning routines – starting today the hubby and I are back on a regular schedule since it’s his first day back after his summer break.

You know what that means, don’t you? Freedom!!  I kid, I kid…or do I? Actually, now that I’ll have the house to myself again all day, I’ll get so much more done – and I really need that uninterrupted time to finally get the rest of the boxes all unpacked so our new house finally feels like ‘home’.

Then it’ll be time to party. I cannot wait.

Meanwhile this week’s party is all about music – our previous Spotlight Dancer, Amethyst Moon of Life Music Laughter chose the theme for this week, and since football season has just kicked off, she’d like us to choose stadium songs, or songs you might hear at a sporting event.

Seeing as how my Seahawks played today (yesterday if you’re reading this on Monday), and almost gave the game to Denver in the 4th quarter (after having beat the in the Superbowl), luckily they held on to the ball and scored a touchdown in overtime, finally winning the game. Too close for comfort if you ask me!

Anyway, I thought I’d find a fun Seahawks song to play today. Last season there were so many cool twisted lyrics songs that were changed for the Seahawks (and they were good!) but I couldn’t find them anywhere.

Instead, I found a great song that took the annoying song “What does the Fox say?” and turned it into a fun Seahawks related song instead, with another Twisted Tunes by a great Seattle radio personality Bob Rivers.

A University of Washington grad is the person behind the video itself – she had no idea her video would end up going viral. With all the loyal Seahawks fans out here in “12th Man” mode, it’s no surprise it did.

Give a listen to “Seahawks: What Does The Hawk Say?!”:

Next up is a song by an American hard rock band that was featured on their debut studio album in 1987. The record company was having a hard time selling the video to MTV, but they finally made a deal with the network to have it air only one time at 5:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning.

As soon as the video aired, the networks received numerous calls from people wanting to see the video again. It quickly became MTV’s most requested video. It’s also a song that’s also regularly used at various sporting events.

GunsNRoses

Here’s Guns N’ Roses with “Welcome To The Jungle”:

Next up is a song that I always loved when attending hockey or football games. It was recorded for this group’s popular album from 1977, listed as number 330 of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time” in 2004, and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2009.

Since its release, this song has been covered, remixed, sampled, parodied, referenced and used by multiple recording artists, TV shows, films and other media worldwide. Its memorable two stomp/one clap motif has been used by sports arenas around the world for decades as a rallying cry for the home team.

Queen

Give a listen to Queen with “We Will Rock You”:

Of course the previous song cannot be shared without this next one from the same group. It’s a power ballad also from their 1977 album and one of their most famous and popular songs – it remains among rock’s most recognizable anthem today.

“We Are the Champions”  has become an anthem for sporting victories, including the official theme song for 1994 FIFA World Cup, and has been often used or referenced in popular culture. The song has also been covered by many artists.

Without further ado, here’s Queen (again) with “We Are The Champions”:

What are your favorite sports songs or anthems?

Have a great Monday!

  1. Queen was the group that has all the football songs, of course! “We Are the Champions” and “We Will Rock You” have to be the top picks. That Seahawks song was cute take on “What Does the Fox Say” and I’m one of the 4 people who never heard Guns & Roses “Welcome to the Jungle” but all great selections you have here.

I know you’re excited about getting your new home in order and everything finally unpacked now that the kids are back in school and I’m excited for you. Thanks again for the virtual dance – you rocked the house this week and that wasn’t an easy thing to do. Happy Monday!

  3. Great Seahawks theme song! Y’all are the nosiest fans in the world, I tell you. lol We were watching the Broncos play the Seahawks yesterday and all I could think was, “Quieten down, quieten down! I need to concentrate.” I was rooting for the Broncos. We are Peyton Manning fans ever since he played at UT eons ago. We almost had y’all, too going into an overtime, but you rascals scored the first touchdown. Oh well…I love all of your selections ~ fabulous football #music, Stacy! Enjoy your time alone getting much needed stuff tackled.

  4. I think we might have heard one or two of those songs Saturday. I was happy to find a couple others that are common stadium played songs–or at least ones we heard Saturday!

Uninterrupted time at home to unpack, clean and organize? Sounds pretty good!

Even though we live only a short drive (relatively) north of Denver, we are so not Bronco fans. We root for any team playing against them. So go Seahawks!
