A few weeks ago, Aveeno challenged me to participate along with several other bloggers in the #AveenoDailyChallenge.  We were tasked with choosing our personal obstacles like de-stress, more sleep, hydrate, exercise, eat healthy, etc.  For those curious souls, you can check out all the participants and their pledges to commit to this challenge on the Aveeno Facebook Page.

There’s me and my commitment – as you can see, I chose the challenge to hydrate more by drinking 8 glasses of water each day.

You see, I’m a slacker and don’t drink enough water.  It’s so boring,  really, so it’s a mind over matter situation when it comes to choking down… I mean drinking… the ‘appropriate amount of water each day.  Or any,  really.  I know  – I told you I’m a slacker!

To help me attain my goal, Aveeno sent me a really cool infusing water bottle to help make drinking water daily so much less boring:

They also sent me Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion to help with the winter blah dry skin that seems to run rampant with me:

The water bottle was the perfect solution to non-boring water.  I would alternate between different fruits (strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, etc.), or some days I’d just put slices of cucumber in that bottom infusing chamber, or slices of lemon (as pictured).  It worked wonders to make me a lot more enthusiastic about taking on water!

When I first started the challenge, it was truly a challenge to make sure I was drinking 8 cups of water every day – it seemed like so much, particularly since I’d be lucky if I drank a half cup of water each day. And let’s just put it out there – I’m glad I work from home, since I had to use the bathroom constantly at the beginning, as the water intake was truly flushing out my system (and my system was probably confused as to why so much water was invading).

After a few days, however, I noticed a difference – my fingers weren’t as swollen from water retention, and my system was adjusting to this new miracle of healthy living.  Combined with the extra water intake, utilizing the Aveeno Daily Moisturizer Lotion rendered my dry flaky skin non-existent, and my skin much softer.  Score!

Now that I’ve made it a habit for the full three weeks, I find that I not only crave water on a daily basis, but I don’t think twice about switching out that last cup of coffee for water instead, or choosing water over soda when I’m thirsty.  In fact, I make sure I load up my infusing water bottle every day and keep it handy, so it’s second nature to pick it up and drink. Thanks to Aveeno and this three-week challenge, I’m well on my way to the more healthy me I’m determined to be.
