When we were Basement Dwellers occupying my parents’ basement while looking for a house, a tiny little stray kitty appeared in their backyard.

Naturally we couldn’t leave the poor thing out in the cold, and adopted the scraggly little thing, who went through a few name changes (including ‘Shatner’) before his final name of #Squeak.  Yep, you even pronounce the ‘Hashtag’ portion of his name.

While he and Blackspot were hanging out together, they liked to climb over the stuff my mom had stacked along the walls of the solitary bedroom in the basement – she had a dog bed on top of a high shelf, but they managed to climb up and knock it down to the floor, immediately taking over its comfort:

  1. At one time we had a big black lab pit mix (we think, he was a stray) he was a big teddy bear to us and sometimes very fierce with others. Turns out he was afraid of cats and our little black one took total advantage. She took over his dog bed. He would stand there and look at her then look at me all pitiful then back at the cat and then back at me. It was sad.
