Well hello 2014!  It’s the very first Monday of the New Year – how are y’all feeling?  Just think – we are one year away from Marty Mcfly arriving.  And flying cars.   And hover boards.   I can’t wait.

What I also can’t wait for is Closing Day.  You read that right, Closing Day – which means we are moving forward to buying a house (again)!   Looks like we’ll be all snug in our new place just before Valentine’s Day.

I’ll divulge more details tomorrow in Random mode, but for now I’m doing a Happy Dance, because that means this is the last month of Basement Dwelling!   WooHoo!  I’ll have real  internet again, which means I’ll be back to harassing you daily!   I cannot wait.   More on that tomorrow.

This week’s theme for the very first 2014 Monday’s Music Moves Me is a freebie, yo!  Let’s start the year off right with a supremely talented artist who’s fairly new to the scene, and I’m looking forward to all the music she has coming in the future.

SerenaRyder

Here’s Serena Ryder with “What I Wouldn’t Do”:

I’ve always loved these two as individual artists, so when I ran across this song they did together, it was a no-brainer to share it. You tend to forget that the male artist has a sexy Australian accent, since he obviously doesn’t sing with one.  I also loved watching the video of the story behind the song because these two are just too cute:

KeithUrbanMirandaLambert

Fun Fact:   Miranda Lambert opened for Keith Urban back in the days when she was young and green.  They’ve been good friends ever since!

Here’s the sexy Aussie, Keith Urban featuring the sexy country girl Miranda Lambert with “We Were Us”:

Next up is my favorite sibling trio, with a savvy ballad that is lyrically deeper than its popish hooks suggest, showcasing how this band and their label were smart enough to record the song.  There’s nothing like it on Country radio and the song could easily cross over to Pop radio where it will remind folks more than a little bit like the smart ballads that P!NK often releases.

TheBandPerry

Without further ado, here’s The Band Perry with “Don’t Let Me Be Lonely”:

I want to party with this next artist! Looks like it could be so much fun!  His current project definitely has the rock aspect, but there is also a softer side and a spiritual side as well.  He is really proud of his next album, as well he should be.

He was quoted as saying:  “I don’t ever want to compare any of my records because they are all different chapters of my life, but I think this one is definitely going to tell my story well.”   I love the song, and it doesn’t hurt he’s such a cutie:

BrantleyGilbert

Here’s Brantley Gilbert with “Bottoms Up”:

That’s a wrap for this week – have a great Monday – Happy New Year!

Now on to the particulars of Monday’s Music Move’s Me:

Photobucket

I have the supreme honor and privilege of being a co-host with the inimitable Xmas Dolly and our musical cohorts, Callie from JAmericanSpice, Cathy from Cathy Kennedy’s Blog, and Naila Moon at Just the Stuff Ya Know, and since our own Cathy will be on hiatus for a few weeks, our friend Becca from Everyday Life is picking up the slack (thanks for picking up my slack too, Becca!)

Want to join in the fun? It’s easy – just find a tune that rocks your boat, post it and link up – don’t forget to grab Xmas Dolly…er, um, I mean her button…over at her place here. Check out Xmas Dolly’s sidebar for the random themes we sport each week – and you can always ask for a specific theme of music you like, too. Check out the other music lovahs and let’s jam!

  1. Glad to hear you guys are in the process of getting into a new place. I know y’all are super duper excited, as well you should be. I hope things go smooth sailing. Now, I’m lovin’ all of your music selections this morning. Brantley Gilbert’s voice sounds nice. I am going to listen to more of his music. Serena Ryder has a unique voice, too. Another artist I want to investigate further. Thanks for sharing, my friend – you rock!

  2. Hi Co-host! Serena Ryder is new to me but like her style. This is one of the reasons I love the Monday Music blog hops – I get to hear music I normally wouldn’t listen too.

Exciting, busy blog. Congratulations! Happy Monday.
