Princess Nagger: “Mama! You have got to grab your camera and see where Blackspot is right now!”
Me: “I’m on it!”
This was the sight that greeted my eyes (and lens):
Luckily when we remodeled and added a powder room to the first floor, we trimmed it out with 100 year old barn timbers – Blackspot climbed up the timber vs. digging his claws into my Grandfather Clock.
No worries, I did help him down – though I discovered later I didn’t need to. He’s been up there several times since, and each time amazed Princess Nagger and I with his ability to successfully jump down in one graceful move – without a net or wires.
Oh, and you’re probably wondering if he ever did find any mice up there – luckily we have no mice, so there’s none interested in running up the clock. Thank goodness.

I love your cat pics with the thought bubbles – what an interesting, creative exercise in anthropomorphistic photography!
Happy WW!

LOL! Thank you so much, EdT! 😀
When we first moved into this house we live at now, we had a large cat named Charlie. Now Charlie loved our old garage and breezeway of our old home, but didn’t like the garage here. He preferred to stay outdoors, but he did need to watch himself as we live in an area full of predators that would love to chomp down on fresh kitty. He quickly learned that the best place to go was the roof of our house, and hide under the air conditioner situated there. It was quite a jump up from the three foot patio wall to the roof, and back down again, but he did it with such ease. He was a great cat, and kept the mouse and rat population down very well. Unfortunately, one of our neighbors was having a big problem with rats and left some poison out. A rabbit got to this poison, and Charlie got the rabbit. He was gone in a few days after he got that bunny. He was such a great cat, and we have never replaced him.
Awwwww! Charlie sounds like he was an awesome cat! I worry when a couple of our cats go exploring outside that they’ll end up picking up poisoned critters. You just never know with the neighbors we have on one side. So sorry about what happened to Charlie! ((HUGZ!!))
bwahahahahaha Way ta go PN on tellin’ Mom to get the camera! Cats are so funny sometimes, & I totally LOVE your GF clock! What a work of art. I had one and well… it was my Mom’s & there was an accident when we were moving & it just makes me cry! Anyway, no pic again… did we ever figure that out? hmmmmm Great shots there mama!
Cats are funny, aren’t they, Marie? 😉 Oh man – so sorry about the accident with your grandfather clock! I’m going to be extra worried about moving that across country this summer! 🙂 The hubby sure did a great job picking that out for me for Christmas in 2005, didn’t he? He’s a keeper! 😉
Looks like the cat has found a comfy spot for itself!
We should be so lucky to find such a comfy spot, eh Terra? 😉
Clever title! Cats amaze me with their agility!
Thank you, Angie! Cats really are amazing creatures – probably one of the reasons Princess Nagger likes to pretend she’s one! 😉
I absolutely love your grandfather clock!
The pictures are too cute too 😀
Thank you so much, Kenzie! 🙂
What a great cat! Love the thought bubbles. lol
Thank you so much, Pamela! 🙂

Love your captions. Seems like something a cat would be thinking. It amazes me how cats can get into and onto things.
They are quite the tricky critters aren’t they, Elle? 🙂 Have FUN on your trip, BTW – take lots of pictures so I can live vicariously through you! 😀
Oh my, that is just too funny. I had to show the hubby and children this post last night. It was getting late and I never scrolled down though, so they only saw the first shot. I just LOVE all your captions, too cute.
Thank you so much, kewkew! 🙂
LOVE it! Fun series of pics. Made me giggle this morning.
Thank you, TC! Glad I was able to make you giggle! 😉
Our cat used to freak me out doing this. Great shots!
I think they find great satisfaction in freaking us two-leggers out don’t they, Jackie? 😉
Your bubble comments totally make the post! Love it!!
Thank you so much, Jennifer! 🙂
I have seen cats make some amazing jumps too. You’ve got a pretty baby there. I like the concept in your powder room too, I bet it looks amazing!
Cats sure can be leapers, can’t they, Rosey? And thanks so much for the compliments! 🙂
I’d have left him up there, but we all know how I feel about the little furry balls of allergies. 😉 I’m afraid I shall always be a dog person.
LOL! It’s such a bummer you’re allergic since cats can be quite the entertainment factor. But I do have a confession to make – at heart I’m a dog person. Probably because I never wanted to become a Cat Lady. 😉
LOL! I love your thought bubbles! Too funny!
Thank you so much, Kristie! 🙂
Ha and the whole time he knew what he was doing :). Thanks for sharing!
LOL! You’re so right, Sean – he knew exactly what he was doing the whole time! 😀 Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
I love the bubbles above the kitty. How do you do that? Beautiful grandfather clock, is it one passed down from one generation to the next? I bet kitty would love a nice big cat pillow up there. Happy WW!
Thank you, Eliza! I do the thought bubbles in PhotoShop – I’ve used it for so many years I don’t have to think about it (you know, with my own thought bubbles…heh!) Thank you for the compliment on the grandfather clock – my hubby got that for me for Christmas in 2005 simply because I had mentioned I missed having a grandfather clock in the house since my parents had one when I was growing up (they still have it). He’s a keeper! 🙂 Oooh – that’s a great idea – I need to put a cat pillow up there! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
Love the cat “thought” posts!
Thank you so much, Rachel! 🙂
Love this post! :o) Thanks for your comment. I have a linky this week but for some reason it posted it underneath an older post. Not sure why. Hope you are well! x
Thank you so much, Charlotte! And I’ll be by in a bit to hunt down your linky… 😉
Maybe he was setting up a mouse trap ?
Cute pics and love the thought bubbles ! I always want to do that to my pics but never get around to it 🙁
Happy WW ! Don’t forget to share your linky on my blog 🙂
LOL! You might be on to something, Dazediva! 🙂 I’m always a day late and a dollar short, but I’ll be over shortly to check out your WW and add my link to your linky! 🙂
I’m always amazed where I find our cat when she seems to have disappeared. I’ve found her on top of the kitchen cabinets many a time hiding and napping in a corner.
She’s probably also got a great vantage point when she’s up there keeping an eye on you, right Susi? 😉
Makes you kind wonder what happens when you are not home 🙂
It does make you wonder, doesn’t it? I’m tempted to set up a camera to see what antics they get into when I’m not here! 😀
I say you throw some Swiffers all over the cat and encourage the high climbing. Can I borrow her for a day or so? I’ve got the tops of some dressers that need dusting.
AHAHAHA! That’s a genius idea, Lisa!! 😀
We have cabinet in the living room that is tall and thin, much like a grandfather clock. Kovu loves to get up there and just sit and watch things! He first jumps on a small table that sits near by and then propels himself to the top! Jack hasn’t quite figured how to get up that high yet, but I’m sure it’s coming. He is much more of a climber and explorer than Kovu ever was!
Some cats really do like to sit up high and survey their domain, don’t they Martha? 🙂 I’m tempted to set up a camera to see what they’re up to when I’m not here. 😉
Blackspot is great, I love his spunk, glad he did not find a mouse!! Our cat Digger climbs his cat post and leaps onto our entertainment center, I finally put a rug for him to nap on!
Thank you Stacey for hosting!! Enjoy your day!!
Love it! I swear that clock looks EXACTLY like ours though!!
If yours is a Howard Miller clock, Bob, it probably is exactly the same! They have such timeless quality, don’t they? 😉
