I’m happy to report we’ve had amazing spring weather this entire week.  I know you were wondering, weren’t you?  Things are finally starting to bud, it wasn’t too hot nor too cold, and of course I still have to make time to get out and actually snap some pictures before spring starts to fade.

Today we’re in for a wicked round of thunderstorms, so hopefully we won’t lose power.   Here’s hoping that everyone in the areas that were getting hit with severe weather have remained safe and dry.

Speaking of spring…  Oh great, the thought I had just escaped from my head.  Let’s see if it comes back.

Speaking of heads…  OK, that might be a funky segue, but work with me here, OK?  As most of you know, Princess Nagger is obsessed with all things dragons, dinosaurs, Minecraft and Japanese Anime.  OK, you might not have been fully aware of that last item, but she is.  She loves the Soul Eater books (that you literally read from back to front) and recently stumbled across this guy on YouTube who makes Chibi Licenses for anyone who wants one.

ChibiLink

For those that are Legend of Zelda fans, you’ll recognize that Chibi License as Link.  I know you’re thinking to yourself “What the heck is a Chibi?”  Well, I’m glad you asked.  Because I didn’t know, either.  Chibi style is usually used in depicting scenes which are cute and/or humorous, and it is extremely rare for it to be used for an entire anime series.  It is quite popular in manga, however.  From Wikipedia:

Chibi is a Japanese slang word meaning “short person” or “small child.”  The word has gained currency amongst fans of manga and anime.  Its meaning is of someone or some animal that is small.  It can be translated as “little,” but is not used the same way as chiisana (tiny, small, little in Japanese) but rather cute.

So there you go.  There’s this guy named Robert DeJesus that has made 60 or more Chibi Licenses (his brainchild) and has posted them on YouTube.  He even did one of Harry Potter:

Isn’t that cool?  I keep telling Princess Nagger that’s she’s artistically talented enough to draw her own, but she wants an original creation from Mr. DeJesus.  I’ve reserved a spot for her, so I’ll be sure to share when it gets here.

Speaking of (not-so) cool…  My bloggy buddy Slon (aka Mom in High Heels) posted this on her Facebook wall the other day:

ElephantDungbeer

It’s beer, but it’s specifically Elephant Dung Beer.  Ewwwwww!  I know, right?   Even if I were a beer drinker I don’t think I’d be adventurous enough to drink any of that.  I think I’ll stick with drinking wine – and I certainly don’t plan on using dung of any  kind in my winemaking.  Ahem.

Speaking of winemaking…  I’m in the hurry-up-and-wait mode for this year’s International Winemaking Competition – they’ll be judging all the wines entered this weekend (wouldn’t that be a fun job?) and will announce the winners May 18th or thereabouts.

WinemakerComp2013

I’ll be on pins and needles until I find out if my wines won any awards again this year.  Going for the gold again (hopefully)!

Well, since that one spring thought never came back, that’s a wrap for this week – if you have fragmented or random thoughts more than once a week, you’re always welcome to join me for Random Tuesday Thoughts each week as well. Have a great weekend!

  1. Turbo has not yet gotten into anime. It may be only a matter of time. He loves graphic novels. I’m thinking that we need to go to the county library and see what they have for graphic novels for him to check out.

Nope, couldn’t do the elephant dung beer. I’ve gotten more adventurous in my beer drinking since Nick started making beer, but that’s going too far.

  3. Oh, I learned all kinds of things through this post. I’ve never heard of Chibi or Elephant Dung Beer. So, this was an enlightening post to say the least. Thanks for stopping by and here’s to a wonderful weekend!

  4. We’ve been having incredible weather as well. I actually went out today to work on getting rid of my farmer tan.

I love elephants and beer but I don’t think I’d ever drink that one.

  5. Beer made out of elephant dung? Guess some folks will turn any crap they can find into alcohol. And, even though I *am* a beer drinker, that **** isn’t passing my lips – even if it has “St. Arnolds” on the label (though some argue that everything from AB tastes like it.)

PN a fan of anime? Who woulda thunk it? 🙂
