This week (April 7th – April 13th) is National Boys & Girls Club Week!  Since 1860, more than 4,000 Boys & Girls Clubs have opened their doors to serve millions of kids, both across our nation and overseas at military installations, offering a place to grow and encourage a great future.

National Boys & Girls Club Week was established to help celebrate and recognize the invaluable service that the Clubs provide to our communities.  Even if you’ve never utilized the clubs, you’re invited to celebrate National Boys & Girls Club Week and to learn more about the Clubs!

To celebrate National Boys & Girls Club Week, clubs across the country are planning fun activities for their members, their parents, and their neighborhoods.  There will be teen forums, health fairs, carnivals, and more.   Doesn’t that sound like fun?   In addition, many of the tween and teen leadership groups will also be volunteering at homeless shelters or at assisted living facilities.

As part of the celebration, you are invited to “Open The Door & Take The Tour” – you can do this by taking part in the Blue Door Decorating Duel where you can vote for your favorite decorated BGCA blue door.  The winning club will receive a $5,000 Lowe’s gift card – pretty sweet!

This week is the perfect time to personally take a physical tour of your local Boys & Girls Club – you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about what the Club provides to the community, how they’ve helped kids across the country, and how you might help them reach even more children in need of encouragement.  If you don’t have one nearby where you can take a physical tour of your local Boys & Girls Club, you can conveniently click here to take a virtual tour.
