Snow Teaser, Omarosa the Witch, St. Patty’s Day Fun Fail but Pot Roast Win: RTT Rebel

The first day of spring is tomorrow, right?  has been having multiple hot-flashes this winter in our neck of the woods, while giving everyone else the cold shoulder in the form of .  She decided two days before spring was the perfect time to do this (finally):

3-18-13Snow5

Unfortunately, even that didn’t give us the good playable snow we’d been wishing for all winter long – it was yet another nuisance snow that turned into rain and was quickly washed away into oblivion (or at least that’s what I’m expecting at the time I type this – I’ll let you know if we end up getting snowed in.  Yeah, I wasn’t able to type that last part with a straight face).

Speaking of nuisance…  The hubby and I aren’t reality show fans, but there are a select few we like to enjoy for the happens to be one of them – for now.  We both concur that is a witch – said so, and we agree wholeheartedly.

I know at least one or two of you are watching Celebrity Apprentice like the hubby and I are – could you believe the tenacity of that woman?  And by tenacity, I really mean bitchiness.  Ahem.

Omarosa

LaToya obviously didn’t want to subject herself to Omarosa’s venom in the boardroom – how else can you explain why La Toya didn’t bring Omarosa back into the boardroom to potentially be fired?  La Toya pretty much signed her firing papers with that move.

I wouldn’t have a problem with Omarosa if she weren’t so incredibly self-centered – just by the things that come out of her mouth proves how ME ME ME she is.  Self-absorbed and witchy people are not my cup of tea.  Just sayin’.  I’ll be dancing a jig when she’s finally fired – there’s no way she’ll win, I’m pretty sure is smarter than that.  At least I hope so.

Speaking of being (not so) smart…  I totally failed on the whole St. Patrick’s Day fun for the kids – I had all these elaborate plans (in my head) for green milk, green toilet water and a leprechaun trap, and did nothing.  Ooops.  Luckily the kids couldn’t read my mind, and have no idea what they might have missed out on, so that’s a good thing.

At least one thing I did do was made the most delicious dinner if I do say so myself (and I do).  Since I’m not a corned beef and cabbage kinda girl, I opted to go with my buddy Jan of Jan’s Sushi Bar‘s most delectable pot roast recipe.  I bought the kind of roast she recommended would do well in a crock-pot, since I wanted the feast to be an easy one.  I totally neglected to take pictures, but I’m happy to say it turned out looking exactly like Jan’s:

JanSlowCookerPotRoast

Not only was it easy, but it was unbelievably delicious – it literally melted in your mouth.  Uber picky Little Dude even gobbled it down instead of staring at his plate forlornly, wishing it would magically turn into a corn-dog, like he usually does with anything new.

Both Princess Nagger and the hubby went back for seconds – and for Princess Nagger, that’s a major coup, especially since she rarely ever finishes her first serving.  Definitely a keeper recipe (thanks, Jan!) and definitely one that will be made again.

Speaking of brilliant…  I saw this on Facebook yesterday and had to share:

  1. This was the first year that Jude didn’t build a Leprechaun trap – a little sad. His traps were so ingenious. I am DEFINITELY going to have to try out Jan’s pot roast. Jimmy’s so pick about meat that I’m hesitant with most beef recipes. But I will take your advice!

    • What?! No Jude leprechaun trap this year? What a bummer!

Yes, you DEFINITELY have to try out Jan’s pot roast – Little Dude is super picky (I mean SUPER picky) and he loved it, so I bet Jimmy will, too. 🙂

  2. Mother nature has been freaky around here too! Sunny one day and freezing the next!! Sigh!! Good Random…got mine in too!!
    Hugs

  3. Oh man. I remember that Omarosa broad on the first or second season of Apprentice years ago. I hated her then. You couldn’t pay me to watch her now.

I am of the believe if you don’t want snow, if you in fact HATE snow, you will be dumped on!

    • I’m right there with you, Missy – I didn’t like her AT ALL when she was on The (regular) Apprentice years ago – I have an issue with her being on ‘celebrity’ apprentice – she’s not truly a celebrity, at least not by my definition. And she’s just plain mean and a train wreck – which, I’m sure, is why they have her on there – for the ratings. But if she’s up for firing and doesn’t get fired, I’ll stop watching. I can’t imagine Donald Trump would want someone like that associated with his name ‘brand’.

I think you’re on to something there – those that hate snow got dumped on, and those like me who actually love the stuff didn’t! 🙂

  4. I can so relate to the cartoon… I do my best thinking in the middle of the night – then in the morning, I forget most of it (or I remember and don’t sleep a wink)

  5. I keep a paper and pen next to the bed to write my “brilliant” ideas down so I remember them in the AM – they are usually incomprehensible though when I try to read/understand them!

  6. I feel you on the snow, nothing all winter here and now they are calling for it this weekend! And that brain pic is so true, hate when my body is tired but my brain won’t let me rest.

    • I know what you mean, Stacie – this morning it looked (and felt) more like January instead of March! Mother Nature is whacked! 🙂 The curse of the over-active brain – it ALWAYS happens when I need to fall asleep sooner rather than later! 😉

  7. We’re not much of a corned beef family either and we also had a delicious crock pot roast! While we did some “Irish” cooking, I totally dropped the ball on playing Leprechaun tricks on my kids too! There’s always next year 🙂

  8. I don’t normally watch the Apprentice either but we have been and I concur: she’s a really horrible person!

  9. PN might be hitting a growth spurt it as at her age that TJ started eating everything on his plate and the leftovers off his brothers. It back fired when I said he could do this and now AJ waits for TJ to want his to say he’s done, but then be blaming TJ for eating his and looking for something he likes. But TJ still while thin eats more than the rest. I totally had that brain thing happen this morning while “napping”

    • You definitely should check it out, Barb – Jan is an amazing cook – I was more than pleasantly surprised with how delicious the pot roast turned out…and I thought I already made a delicious pot roast, but this one took the cake! 😀

  10. I may have to try that recipe–I can’t ever get my family to go seconds!

Send some of that wet weather down here, please!

  11. Yay!! I’m so glad everyone liked the pot roast. I haven’t eaten breakfast, so I’m kinda sitting here going, “I wish I had some leftover pot roast…” I do believe I’ll thaw one out and throw it in the crock pot tomorrow. It just sounds good.

    • Princess Nagger and I were selfish and polished off the leftovers last night since the hubby had his 11pm night. 😀 It was just as delicious reheated in the microwave as it was fresh – I’m getting another chuck roast (we had fun joking we were eating ‘Chuck’…heh!) when I go shopping on Friday so I can make it again soon. 🙂

    • You’re absolutely right, Lauryn! There’s always next year for leprechaun tricks! And I have a whole year to plan ahead – and make it even more special. 😉 Definitely do try that pot roast recipe – it is to DIE for. 🙂

  12. That reality show I don’t watch, but giving my opinion on the pic above does that person’s face belong to that body with the snake skin outfit? It looks like trick photography to me. Hmm Snake outfit don’t they call those serpents too? Wasn’t there a serpent on the tree in paradise that tempted Adam & Eve. Gee, putting all that together what does that tell you & I’ve never seen the show! hahahahaha
Hugs have a great day! Stomach flu is going around over here sure making one week & couch-like. I found a program called “Storage Wars” and hubby & I love it. The things that people just leave is amazing.

    • AHAHAHA! You crack me up, Marie! Yes, that’s a non-Photoshopped picture, and yes, she’s definitely a snake! 😀 I’ve heard about Storage Wars – I think my sister and her hubby watch that…might have to check that one out! 🙂

So sorry the flu bug has hit your way – I got sidelined by it recently, too. 🙁 No fun!! Feel better soon!

  13. Most people will not appreciate this but I hope you get buried in snow! Next year you’ll be drenched in rain so it is only fair.

That cartoon thing? happens to me all the time. It sucks.

    • LOL! Thank you, Michele! I fear the snow is going to just be a distant memory for now – at least until I move back to Washington State and can go up in the mountains to play. And ski – it’s been years since I’ve skied, since what they call ‘mountains’ out here are molehills to Washitonians. 😉

  14. We had more snow over the weekend and more last night. We’re going to be in the low 30’s for the next week. Yuck!! I just want spring to get here. Sorry you didn’t get snow to play in. Mother Nature could’ve played nice and given you one good storm. She’s pretty fickle like that.

We didn’t do anything for St. Patrick’s Day either. Having it on a Sunday made it easier for me to not have to to crazy with that stuff.

I don’t watch Celebrity Apprentice because I can’t stand Donald Trump.

I’ll have to check out that recipe. I love easy and delicious!

Thanks for carrying on the randomness!

    • Sorry you’ve been getting inundated with the snow I wished for, Elle! Mother Nature really is fickle – and not very nice. 😉

I think St. Patty’s Day being on a Sunday did throw off my mental plans – there’s always next year! 🙂

Definitely try that recipe – I’m here to tell you it’s easy and delicious! 😀

Thanks for helping keep the random alive! 🙂

  15. Ah, we’re getting hit with snow today too! And we’ve had our fair share of it this winter already… I’m a fan of the snow, but I was getting used to the spring-like weather we’ve had for the past few weeks. This feels like a bit of a mean trick from Mother Nature today!!

Your roast sounds delicious, and always a bonus when the whole family loves it!! 🙂

  16. Ah, we’re getting snow here today too. And we’ve already had our share of winter weather… I’m a fan of the snow, but after a few weeks of spring-like weather, this kind of feels like a mean little trick by Mother Nature!

Your roast sounds delicious. And always a bonus when the whole family loves it!! 🙂

    • So sorry my wishes for snow inadvertently dumped on you instead, Jill. 😉 I bet you’re REALLY looking forward to spring now, right? 🙂

The roast is absolutely fabulous – totally worth it, and so very easy to do, too! 🙂

  17. Love the FB cartoon that you shared in the post. And I can totally relate to it. :)) It always happens when you are MOST looking forward to laying down after an exhausting day when the brain wants to go off and rack up some stuff! 🙂
    Thanks for sharing!

    • That cartoon really is relate-able! And you’re so right – it always happens when you are MOST looking forward to relaxation after an exhausting day. Apparently our brains just don’t think we’ve done enough! 😀 Thanks so much for stopping by and linking up, Reshama! 🙂

  18. I’m pretty sure I “liked” that same pic on FB yesterday. lol. That is totally my brain, ALL. THE. TIME. and even more so now that I’m pregnant. That food looks yummy! I wish I had some meat. We’ve been sweating down here in AL, except yesterday when some storms came through. I’m done with snow, but wish it weren’t so warm already. I’m sure it will cool down again. I am in AL after all. 😛

    Happy RTT!

    • Oh that’s funny, Whitney! Two great minds… 😀 It’s my brain All. The. Time. too! And yes, I remember it was even more-so when pregnant – you poor thing! 🙂

That’s the one thing I worry about since we had such an unusually warm winter – that we’ll completely bypass spring and head right into the unbearable hot and humid temps of summer. I’m not ready to give up the layers yet! 😀 Thanks for helping keep the random alive! 🙂

  19. The weather has been crazy here too! I can’t handle the cold and it has been crazy cold by Florida standards!

I remember Omarosa in the first Apprentice and I couldn’t stand her. I would even call her celebrity. That just applauds the behavior.

I’m not a fan of pot roast but that does look good! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

    • I saw that you guys were getting a little chilly down there, Denise! Crazy Mother Nature! 🙂

That’s exactly what I’ve been saying – how on god’s green earth can Omarosa be considered a ‘celebrity’? She’s only done reality gigs, no true celebrity there! Pffffft!

  20. Dude! I had to scroll waaaay down to leave a comment! Someone is super popular!!! lol

Don’t get me started on “Celebrity” Apprentice. I always watch it. ALWAYS. But this season is a little lame. And Omarosa is a complete bitch. I hated her from when she was on there before. How did she become a “celebrity”? Donald needs to try and get FIRST CLASS celebrities next time and not these barely celebrity peeps. HA!

    • LOL! Sorry about the long scrolling, IA! I need to figure out how to set up a pop-up comment thingy so it’s not such a PITA. 😉

Celebrity Apprentice IS a little lame this year, isn’t it? I mean – ALL-Star? Really? And Omarosa is considered THAT? Not by my standards. And as far as I’m concerned, she is NOT a ‘celebrity’ – not even close. That means I can claim celebrity status too, right? I’ve not been in any reality shows, but I’ve done commercials and extra work, so there – I should be a celebrity. And I’m not a bitch (usually), so I win. 😀

  21. I had big plans for St. Patrick’s Day too, but alas I didn’t get around to doing any of them. Alas, I settled for corned beef hash, eggs, and guiness.

  22. Gads! Once again we got your snow! The other thing that bothers me about Omorosa is that her Celebrity status is that she was on the Apprentice to begin with. Ooooh that dinner looks delish!

  23. We also got snow here. Lovely first day of spring… I love that image you shared at the end… that pretty much sums me up every night haha.
