Have you heard of Oddka Vodka?  I only recently heard of them myself, so don’t feel bad if you haven’t yet.  But I’m sure going to be checking to see if it’s carried in my store locally, because I’m definitely intrigued – you know how it goes, you sometimes buy stuff based on a label or a name.  Or is that just me?

Their website is hilarious, here’s the welcome message:

Wit can be the vodka man, I’ll be the wine girl.  Without the whine.   Though I’m so going to have to do some experiments with cocktails made with Oddka Vodka, because the flavors caught my attention:

ApplePie

Apple Pie: For when you desperately yearn for the sweet taste of apples and cinnamon and can’t get one of grandma’s apple pies. Mixes best with Fanta, Coke or Ginger Ale.  This sounds right up my alley – not only does it sound tasty, but it could quite possibly be a replacement for the recipes I use Apple Jack in.

WasabiWasabi: This tribute to the spicy burn of the sharp Asian condiment will satisfy your craving for something fiery. Mixes best with Ginger Ale and is perfect for a Bloody Mary.  The hubby wants to try this one, because he likes fiery spicy stuff and likes Wasabi.

This one is really ‘out there’:

FreshCutGrassFresh Cut Grass: Nothing beats this home-mown taste; it’s crisp, citrusy, sweet and refreshing. Mixes best with Dr. Pepper, Ginger Beer or Soda Water.

Or how about:

SaltyCaramelPopcornSalty Caramel Popcorn: If ODDKA were a movie, this flavor would be a caramel comedy with a sea salt subplot and a warm, feel-good ending. Mixes best with Fanta, Ginger Ale, Coke or Iced Tea.  Might be a great thing to sip on while watching a movie.  Wonder if it smells like popcorn?

Now this one I definitely want to try, and I think it would be interesting to use in my homemade kahlua (electric kahlua has a nice ring to it):

ElectricityElectricity:  A bolt of lightning in a bottle – but safer; tickling taste buds and sparking curiosity everywhere.

And of course for those not quite so brave of heart to try the oddities above, they do have the original:

OriginalOddka Vodka is a premium spirits and wine company launched by Pernod Ricard. He discovered a new brand of vodka and named it, ODDKA® in October 2012. ODDKA Vodka is currently only available in Alabama, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. But there is hope for those of you outside those areas, because ODDKA is expanding both globally and nationally in the Spring of 2013.

ODDKA currently comes packaged in a 750 ml bottle and retails for a decent price of $15.99 in original clear vodka (40% alc./vol., 80 proof) or the five unconventional flavors (30% alc./vol., 60 proof) I mentioned above.

The mascot behind ODDKA is Wit Oddoski:

wit-rockski

He describes himself this way:

Hello, Wit here,

You’ve probably noticed there’s something a bit different about me.

“You’re so charismatic” I can hear you say. “And classically handsome!” Your friend has probably just chipped in.

Well, maybe. But I’m also a 2D line drawing.

That’s probably why I look at the world so differently and create such unusual flavors. Well, that and all of the unusual things I have done.

Why not take a look at my flavors?

Or add me, follow me and like me.

I’d like that.

Poor Wit – being a virtual character living in the real world can’t be easy.  But at least having the rare condition of being born as a 2-D line drawing leads him to view the world a bit differently than others, and come up with something as unique as Oddka Vodka.

Fans can also interact with Wit via the “ODDstache” mobile app, available for free download on iTunes.

Using the ODDstache app, men and women alike can grow their very own virtual mustache using a photo of their choice. To mature, the mustaches need tending; growth can be accelerated with grooming, feeding and by sharing with friends on Facebook—the more “Likes” received, the more ODD it will grow.

Remember – have fun but drink responsibly.
