I mentioned yesterday that over the weekend we added 2 more kittens to our menagerie.  We already have 2 cats – one in the Summer House and one in the Main House (Link and Zelda) – our third cat, rescued kitten Agent Orange took off and never came back.  He ditched his collar on the way out and was too cute and trusting, so I’m guessing he was stolen adopted by someone else.  At least that’s what I’m hoping, not the alternative with the excessive presence of fox in the area lately.

Princess Nagger has been bummed about Agent Orange departing on a secret mission for a long time, so she finally talked the hubby into letting her get a kitten that would be all hers.

The hubby made a deal with her that she would have to get rid of the Cockatiel first, since it’s always been mean and snippy, so she’s never been able to enjoy it like she did the first one.  She agreed and even took pictures so the hubby could post an ad on Craigslist.  It didn’t take long for someone to answer the ad, especially since he entitled it “Give an Angry Bird for Christmas”.  Quite clever.

Princess Nagger’s specific requirements for the kitten were that it had to be a kitten kitten (less than 6 months old) and she preferred to get either an all-white kitty so she could name it Snowball, or an all-black kitty so she could name it Shadow.  So the search began.  We found these cuties on Craigslist:

Those were the pictures posted – I was a little nervous about the date stamp and warned Princess Nagger not to get her hopes up in case they weren’t really available as kittens.  We thought they were funny because with the markings on their heads, they look like they’re wearing toupees.

Princess Nagger waited impatiently, asking me every ten minutes or so if I’d gotten an email response.  The next day I finally did, and after a couple more email exchanges and phone calls, we confirmed the picture was current (the date stamp was wrong) and the kittens were still available.  We were planning on getting one.  One.

Except the hubby apparently informed me after the fact that I never should have recruited him to pick up a kitten with Princess Nagger, because he almost took all three instead of just two.  He has a soft spot for the little critters.  He and Princess Nagger picked out their names – meet Ralph and Black Spot (nickname of Blackie):

Oh yeah, you probably want to see their faces:

I guess I better get them some milk so they can have milk mustaches to go with their toupées, right?

  1. Very cute! We aren’t getting another cat until our current one passes. Since she’s still going strong, that will be a while–but the boys will be excited when we get one–with any luck it will be as cute as yours.

  2. They are adorable! I know the feeling of not being able to get just one – my mom and I have always been the same way. My dad used to groan when we’d come home with more cats than expected, but he’d fall in love almost instantly. Once, it was a kitten and an older cat (my mom felt bad because no one was taking her, and she has turned out to be such a sweetheart). The next day she went back to the shelter to get another kitten so the little ones could have each other to play with!

When I was 5, I got to pick out a kitten and she was my best friend for over a decade. We plan to do the same for our daughter when she turns 5.
