Have a DIY Project? Check out Floor & Decor

Owning a house that is almost 200 years old can sometimes be a challenge.  We have to get creative when we’re doing any sort of DIY – like when we added a powder room and bar to one end of the living room:

We even added a hot and cold water sink in one corner of the bar – using an actual bowl as the sink:

Too bad we hadn’t known about – they have cool bowl for .  They’re also a great source for low price flooring among other things.  Perusing their site, I was amazed at how many different things they have – we certainly could have gotten some great deals on some of the things we used in our prior projects.

We’re currently in the planning stages of doing some changes in our kitchen – first order of business is to replace the ugly mustard yellow with either granite or tile.  In either case, we’ve been thinking about doing some sort of tile back-splash around the back edges of the counter – Floor & Decor has the best selection in tiles I’ve seen yet – and even though there isn’t a physical store in my area, they do ship right to your door (something I definitely like).

Though I sure would love to explore one of the ginormous locations in person, so our next trip through Ohio might require we stop here:

In addition to the changes we’d like to do in the kitchen, I’ve been wanting to do something about the too-small bathtub in the second-floor bathroom.  We have an amazing claw-foot tub in the 3rd floor bathroom, so it would be cool if we could have one a floor below as well.  I don’t see that happening, but thanks to Floor & Decor, there are many porcelain, ceramic, stone, tile, wood, and laminate options to choose from.

Check out Floor & Decor online at their website, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

About Stacy (the Random Cool Chick)

After 20+ years in the Corporate World and years of infertility, Princess Nagger made her miraculous appearance and I chose to become a SAHM and WAHM - I love every minute of it. We added Little Dude through adoption, adding a whole new dimension to our family. We have an eclectic mix of pets: dogs, cats, birds and fish. I love to cook and try new techniques to turn ordinary into extraordinary. Crafty by nature, I take on a lot of unique projects and enjoy seeing the end result. My favorite, of course, is making my own wine out of fruits and grapes. Experiments with water currently underway. I blog about the joys of parenting, family, friends, life, love and anything else that strikes my fancy. I do enjoy doing reviews and giveaways for products I use, believe in and can stand behind.

  1. Love your house, we have a house that is about 100 years old and we are continually doing work on it. Can’t wait to check out Floor and Decor, I would love some new doors and handles.

  2. It is hard to believe that the home is almost 200 hundred years old. The di came pretty well especially with the bar and powder room at the edge of your living room. The cold and hot water sink also gives your living room an acoustic feel. It’s almost like the Victorian grandeur only with a modern touch it. With the work that you have done, it would not be surprising if the décor and floor are out of this world.

  3. Owning a house 200 years old can be a very big challenge. But you are managing it very well. Looking at those pictures, it doesn’t feel that I am looking at a house which is that much old.

  4. Perfect home! It doesn’t look like it is a 200 years old house after seeing all your improvements. Bar at one end of living room looks amazing. Post few more images if possible.
