Channeling Jules Cobb – Or Just Her Giant Wine Glass and a Scientific Experiment

If you've been reading me for a while, you know by now that I make my own wine.  It's a fun passion, and I've even won some awards for my finished wines.  People think it's funny that even though I make all that wine on a regular basis, I'm not drinking it all the time.  I know, right?  I get too busy and forget to pour myself a glass – but when I do, I certainly enjoy it.

If any of you watch Cougar Town (can't wait until they're back with the new season in January) you know that Jules (Courtney Cox) has a of wine, too.  So much so, that she usually drinks it from a ginormous wine glass.  I've been on the hunt for just such a wine glass, though they really are hard to find.  First she had Big Joe:

I finally found one that is similar (the important part of it is that it holds an entire ):

Of course I have yet to break it out and fill it , but I'll do that for fun at some point.  Of course fans of the show know that Big Joe ended up getting broken by Travis's girlfriend Kristen, so Big Carl took its place:

I'd love to find one like that – I could've sworn I saw the exact same one at either Michael's or A.C. Moore, but trips there recently have come up empty.  I did, however, find a giant champagne glass at A.C. Moore on a recent trip with to get some crafty supplies – of course I had to get one two:

Just so you can see a comparison, here's one of them sitting next to the Big Joe replica which is sitting next to one of my regular wine glasses (that itself is slightly larger than the ‘norm'):

In case you wanted to see a more dramatic example, Princess Nagger decided to goof with it so you can see how big it is:

I'm thinking it will probably hold more than one bottle of wine or champagne.  I'm also thinking it's time for a scientific experiment to see how much wine or champagne it really holds, don't you?

  1. Bwhahahaha!!! I absolutely love this! Heck, I think you deserve to use a glass that big if you’re not getting to enjoy your vino on a regular basis! May as well enjoy ALL your servings in one go, right?! LOL! Amazing. Please take a picture of yourself when you finally use it!

  2. A little bit larger and it looks like PN could fit her entire head into that glass!

I wouldn’t mind one large enough to hold an entire bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue – on the other hand, maybe it’s better I don’t do that…

    Happy WW!

  3. I haven’t been able to drink wine since before I was pregnant. This makes me very sad! Love how you’ve found Big Joe! Hope you manage to find Big Carl! x

  4. I’m not a fan of Big Carl, I was glad he broke. The first one was my favorite.
My neighbor has a new batch of Apple Cider Wine, I thought of you when the first bottle came out.
PN’s hair is really pretty, and so long. Can’t believe how big she’s getting. Babyzilla turned 6 today. Cute Hubby bought her a pair of Hulk Fists. Can’t wait to see her chase him around with them, haha.
    Happy Wednesday! xo d

    • You didn’t like Big Carl? He was my favorite – but I do like Big Joe too…apparently they’re going to be breaking a wine glass a season since Courtney is a klutz in real life (something we have in common…heh!) I’ll be curious to see what the next giant wine glass looks like. 🙂

Oooh, Apple Cider Wine – I missed out on making a batch this year since our apple tree was pitiful with apples this year (the too-warm spring followed by too-hot summer wreaked havoc). I might have to break down and just buy a slew of apples to make a batch this year!

Happy Birthday to Babyzilla! Time flies by way too fast doesn’t it? I’m looking forward to seeing the pics of her sporting her new Hulk Fists – that’ll be hilarious! 🙂

  5. I haven’t watched the show but I think it’s great that you do your own wine. I have thought I might like to give this a try but for now I think I’m going to start with making some cider.

Oh and of course size does count and bigger is always better.

  6. I do love a good glass of wine but not sure I would drink a whole bottle in one go. Maybe one glass to share with Mr. would be fun though

  7. I’m thinking I need to check out Cougar Town. It’s not a show I watched but since it’s going to be on TBS, where we watch Big Bang regularly, I will definitely check it out.
As to the wine, well who doesn’t need a wine glass that holds an entire bottle of wine–just for fun?
Nick and I are going to embark on a wine making adventure this winter–he has been brewing beer and since we have some of the equipment we thought we give it a shot.

    • You should definitely check out Cougar Town – it’s funny! And I’m glad TBS decided to keep them alive. 🙂

LOL – yes, everyone needs a wine glass that holds an entire bottle of wine just for fun!

Good luck with your wine brewing adventure – you’re not that far off with the beer brewing aside from different methods and stages, but you’re way ahead of the game already because of it! 🙂 Let me know if you have questions – you’ll get hooked on the process, too. 😉

  8. Last weekend I was visiting a friend. The normal sized wine glasses were out, so I got a bigger one, but yours is still bigger. Hm, interesting …

  9. I don’t watch Cougar Town…but I might have to next season. You had me laughing with all the incidents etc. The wine glasses are just too cute. What a great hostess idea this would be!

  10. I really like the biggest glass, it looks more elegant in comparison to the one that’s suppose to resemble Big Joe and you can DEFINITELY fit more than one glass of wine in that thing (score :))!!!

  11. Funny how it didn’t look all that big until you put it next to a regular wine glass! My sisters FIL has been making his own wine for years, too!

    • That’s what I was thinking when I originally was just taking pictures of the giant glass by itself – I knew I had to set it next to others as a comparison or the size would be lost in translation. 🙂 How cool your sister’s FIL makes his own wine, too! It really is a fun thing to do. 🙂

  12. OMG I thought those pictures were you! Not until I read it was your daughter did I know I had to blow the picture up because I couldn’t believe it. So then you’re still on the hunt for the wine glass huh? Did you ever try E-Bay??? Love Love Love your wine, but with the medication I’m on right now I can’t can’t can’t have any 🙁 Have a great weekend! Great fun Post my friend.
