Blue Moon Dragon’s Eye

Last Friday was a Blue Moon.  The kids were a bit disappointed that it wasn’t actually blue, just that it meant that two full moons in the same month.  On a whim, I took my point-and-shoot camera out to the back patio and grabbed a couple of shots.  This one turned out halfway decent through the branches and leaves of our old apple tree:

Later I decided to grab one more through the ripple glass of our upstairs bathroom window using my phone camera:

Since the kids were so disappointed at it not being blue, I decided to adjust a filter in PhotoShop to add some blue to the first image – though Princess Nagger directed, and had me make it a smidge more purple:

She pointed out that it looks like a cool dragon’s eye.  I think she’s on to something – what do you think?

Love the ripple photo! Actually, I was also very disappointed to learn (at quite a ripe age!) that a blue moon wasn’t blue!

Our family took some time to admire the moon as well. I didn’t think to take pics. Yours are great. Thanks for sharing them.

I will also admit to not realizing a blue moon isn’t actually blue . . . and had to do some research, haha! Great shots. Definitely can see the dragon’s eye.

I love that she made you make it a smidge more purple! I was really depressed when I saw a grownup comment on facebook that the moon looked white like normal and not blue. I can only hope that this particular person was joking. I made sure to explain to my kids that a blue moon isn’t actually blue!

I broke the not blue news to my kids before it happened. I wanted to avoid the potential disappointment.
