Last Friday was a Blue Moon. The kids were a bit disappointed that it wasn't actually blue, just that it meant that two full moons in the same month. On a whim, I took my point-and-shoot camera out to the back patio and grabbed a couple of shots. This one turned out halfway decent through the branches and leaves of our old apple tree:
Later I decided to grab one more through the ripple glass of our upstairs bathroom window using my phone camera:
Since the kids were so disappointed at it not being blue, I decided to adjust a filter in PhotoShop to add some blue to the first image – though Princess Nagger directed, and had me make it a smidge more purple:
She pointed out that it looks like a cool dragon's eye. I think she's on to something – what do you think?

Woah! I have never seen such kind of moon ever. It looks beautiful though. Thanks for sharing it.
Love the ripple photo! Actually, I was also very disappointed to learn (at quite a ripe age!) that a blue moon wasn’t blue!
Definitely looks like a dragon’s eye!
Happy WW!

Cool moon shots. I love the one through the window.
Our family took some time to admire the moon as well. I didn’t think to take pics. Yours are great. Thanks for sharing them.

It does look like a cool dragon eye!!
I will also admit to not realizing a blue moon isn’t actually blue . . . and had to do some research, haha! Great shots. Definitely can see the dragon’s eye.
great photo yeah i was a little disappointed to learn at my age that a blue moon really isn’t blue it shattered me and she is right is does kind of look like an eye
I love that she made you make it a smidge more purple! I was really depressed when I saw a grownup comment on facebook that the moon looked white like normal and not blue. I can only hope that this particular person was joking. I made sure to explain to my kids that a blue moon isn’t actually blue!
I broke the not blue news to my kids before it happened. I wanted to avoid the potential disappointment.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh is that what my husband was doing. I didn’t know that. Fab pics girlfriend. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day.
Wow your moon looks blue. Ours didn’t. 🙁 My little was a bit disappointed it wasn’t.
Check out my post!! I think most moms could relate.
Happy WW .
Gorgeous photos!!! Thanks for linking up, I will do the same. Do you have a badge that I could add to my post? x
Great photos! Our moon definitely did not look blue!
She’s right. It’s totally a dragon’s eye. 😉
Cool pics! I like the edit too, it totally does look like a dragon eye. I was disappointed when I found out what a blue moon really was too lol.
When I was little, I always wondered if a Blue Moon actually would actually be blue too! LOL!
I think it looks like a dragon eye, too!
We totally missed the blue moon. Jude was mad at me. I need to pay more attention! Great photos, btw!
A dragon’s eye is definitely what I see!
Hi Stacy, cool moon photo, esp with Halloween quickly approaching. Stopping by to visit. Thanks for hosting this Hop.
