If you’ve been reading along with me the last couple of weeks, you know that I’m driving across the vastness of the U.S.A. with today being our final day on the road towards home.  Home Sweet Home.  It’s always nice to visit family and friends, especially when it’s been a while since you’ve last seen them, but it’s also always nice to get home.  Back to some semblance of normalcy and routine.

Since this week’s Monday’s Music Moves Me is a freebie, I’m going with my own theme of heading home.  Naturally, since we’re ‘on the road’, the first song that came to mind was Willie Nelson‘s song, “On The Road Again”.   When I was looking for a decent video version of it, I ran across this old one where he actually has short hair instead of his trademark braids:

Next is a great song from my all-time favorite female country artist with a song that I love because there are so many reasons this fits me.  It’s a song that is more about the destination and the understanding that home is the place one truly belongs – even if one is not quite there yet.

In this touching story song, a foster child, single mother and older man all know they are still on the journey that will take them to the home that lies just ahead.  In this point in time it’s where we’re heading – home, but it’s only temporary. Here’s Carrie Underwood with “Temporary Home”:

Next up is a great tune from another of my favorite artists, and since we’re literally heading home to Small Town USA, what’s more appropriate than Justin Moore with “Small Town USA”:

And finally, because with all the driving we’ve been doing all across the U.S., the song that popped in my head was none other than Johnny Cash and “I’ve Been Everywhere”:

But wait, there’s one more – when I was looking for the Johnny Cash video, I stumbled across The Sunny Cowgirls with their Australian version of “I’ve Been Everywhere”.  It was too good not to share with you:

And that’s a wrap. Enjoy your Monday – I’ll be sure to stop by for a visit either tonight after we unload the cars and get the kids tucked in their own beds, or for sure tomorrow with my morning coffee.  It’ll be nice to be back to a ‘normal’ routine.
