Where in the world is June going?ย  The first official day of summer is Wednesday – though we already feel like we’re in the middle of it, since we’ve been ravished with hotter than the hinges of you-know-where heat for a while now.ย  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining.ย  Well, maybe a little bit.ย  I don’t do well in withering heat.ย  It makes me cranky.ย  And wilty.

But there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, since we’ll be heading West on Friday and it looks like we’ll get to escape the heat for nicer (read: less wilty) weather while traveling to visit family and friends out West for our vacation this year.ย  Though some might think it’s crazy – 2 cars, 2 kids, 2 dogs – and 2 crazy adults.ย  Lots of blog fodder to come, I’m sure.

Since the first day of summer just happens to be a couple of days away, this week’s theme for Monday’s Music Moves Me is Summer Songs.ย  I love Summer Songs.ย  They’re fun.ย  Just like Summer.ย  And I really shouldn’t be capitalizing ‘summer’, but whatever.ย  I think of it like putting a crown on it.ย  I know, I’m an odd one at times.

Let’s get to it, shall we?ย  I found so many I wanted to share, then decided to narrow it down to these few… six.ย  Trust me, you’ll enjoy them as much as I do.ย  Let’s start off with a great song by a group whose songs I’ve shared before, a catchy tune by The Wanted, “Chasing The Sun”:

Next up is a song my buddy Impulsive Addict shared on her blog a couple of weeks ago (thank you, IA) a song that I fell in love with immediately. Here’s Little Big Town with “Pontoon”:

Next up is one of my favorite Country Stars with a song that definitely says ‘summer’ – and with lyrics like “Drunk on you and high on summertime” and “tippin’ and spillin’ that homemade wine…” is right up my alley.ย  Give a listen to Luke Bryan with “Drunk On You”:

Next up is a groovy song (and yes, I giggled when I typed that) from James Otto, “Groovy Little Summer Song”:

Of course we can’t leave out one of Rascal Flatts newest summer songs, “Summer Nights”:

Last, but certainly not least, what better way to kick off the summer than with Kenny Chesney‘s song, “Summertime”:

What’s your favorite summer song?ย  What’s your favorite part of summer? Enjoy your Monday!

  1. Chasing the Sun is a really groovy, fun song! It had me dancing this morning. Whoo-hoo, I’ve heard this one before and I like it! Little Big Town has a nice tone. I’m gonna have to check out more of their tunes. Pontoon is definitely a fun summer song pick! I’m not a sun and water person, but it made me wish I could be out on the lake having some fun like this. lol Well, keep a groovin’!

  2. Hey Girlfriend, happy almost summertime! Let’s chase the sun together, and it’s got me movin’ this morning that’s for sure. On the Pontoon got me boppin, but it is new to me too! Drunk on you I think you’ve posted this one before love, love it! Groovy little summer song kind of slowed me down, but it’s cute. Now there ya go! I’m really starting to like Rascal Flatts a lot. He’s sure the thing to start a party! W\hat better way to kick off the summer than with Kenny Chesneyโ€˜s song, โ€œSummertimeโ€: Amen to that one. Kenny is truly the way to get down and gritty! woo hoo! Sending more mail today.

  3. I love Pontoon. It gets me longing for lake time. And then reminds me of the song Redneck Yacht Club. Both fun for summer.
    Good luck on your trip!

  7. at first I thought that said the heat made you witty, and while that may be true, iI was a little surprised as I know you like a gross humid and hot day as much as I do…then I saw wiLty…that makes more sense! My life had no soundtrack today I just couldn’t take the time to figure out what music went best with toilet scrubbing!

  8. New songs for me! They are great. Pontoon is a hoot!

I missed why you are taking two cars somewhere along the way… at least you can split the kids and the dogs evenly!

The little break in the heat we had this weekend was nice. I’m planning on putting on the AC tomorrow night so we’re already cool by the time Wed heat hits. We have not used it yet. I am for the end of June, so we are heat and AC free for at least a month!

I hope you have an awesome trip! Can’t wait to hear about your adventures!

    1. Glad I was able to introduce you to some new (great) songs, Martha! ๐Ÿ™‚ That Pontoon one sure is funny, isn’t it?

We’re taking two cars mostly because the hubby is jonesin’ to drive his new (to him) car across the country – and we definitely wouldn’t fit all our stuff plus 2 kids and 2 dogs in just his car. So we’re taking both! But I think that will make the long drive less stressful for us adults – since the kids and dogs will be split up…no backseat shenanigans! ๐Ÿ˜‰

      Stay cool this week! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Great list! I had so much fun with my time in the “spotlight” this week, and I’ve already come up with lots more songs to do an extended summer mix at some point. I can’t believe I left out some of my favorites! But that happens when you’re pressed for time and groggy…..

    I digress.
