Another weekend that went by too fast, another Monday here again. This happens to be the last Monday of Princess Nagger’s school year – how did that happen? That’s right, I blinked.
At least Monday’s are fun days, since we get to enjoy some great music. This week’s theme for Monday’s Music Moves Me is songs from movies – it’s cool how many great songs have been featured in some great (and maybe not-so-great) movies.
Let’s start with one of my favorite movies from the 90’s, City of Angels:
Here’s Alanis Morissette with “Uninvited”:
Another song from the same movie, this song gets me all teary-eyed every time I hear it. Here’s Sarah McLachlan with “Angel”:
Little known fact about the previous song, “Angel” is sometimes called “In the Arms of the Angel” or simply “Arms of the Angel” but it’s actually just “Angel”. Who knew?
Who doesn’t like the movie Ghost:
A song that everyone I know would sing along with (including me), here’s the Righteous Brothers with “Unchained Melody”:
Next is a movie both Princess Nagger and I really enjoyed, Rio:
Here’s a beautiful song by Taio Cruz, “Telling The World”:
Next is a movie that everyone talked about for years after it was released (and people wished they could dance like that), Flashdance:
Here’s Irene Cara with “What A Feeling”:
And finally, a movie from 1990 that had a lot of my favorite actors in it, Young Guns II:
Here’s one of my favorite artists, Bon Jovi, with “Blaze of Glory”:
Enjoy your Monday!
Now on to the particulars of Monday’s Music Move’s Me:
I have the supreme honor and privilege of being a co-host with the inimitable Xmas Dolly and her cohorts in crime, Lorie of The Shewbridges of Celebration, Florida, Callie from JAmericanSpice, and our newest permanent fixture to the hostessing team, welcome Cathy from Cathy Kennedy’s Blog. Also for the month of May, we have the honor of having our friend Denise from Run DMT generously helping out with our hostessing duties.
Want to join in the fun? It’s easy – just find a tune that rocks your boat, post it and link up – don’t forget to grab Xmas Dolly…er, um, I mean her button…over at her place here. Check out Xmas Dolly’s sidebar for the random themes we sport each week – and you can always ask for a specific theme of music you like, too. Check out the other music lovahs and let’s jam!
Special Announcement:
The awesome Run DMT also hosts Music Monday (and graciously helps out with our hostessing every time we need it):
Most of the movie are familiar to me and I love them. City Angels and ghost means a lot to me because the lessons learn in the movie can reflect you in reality. Thanks for sharing another great movie collection in your blog.

I love movie themes, and these are some great ones. I do lean towards the Righteous Brothers one most. I really do believe that they performed that song better than anyone else.

I love all of your movie themes, girl! This one has been a real fun & cool one to do. I think we’ll need to do it again, what do you think? Not long ago, I watched City of Angels for the first time. It was interesting, but so sad! I enjoyed dancing with you. Have a great week!
City of Angels and Flashdance are by far two of my most favorite movies. I just adore them!
All good picks this week; I dig Flashdance and I used to steal my dad’s cassette tape of the soundtrack to listen to. LOL.
I love Ghost and enjoy Flashdance, gosh I watched that movie over and over, the others are new to me and I so enjoyed them1
Have a great week 🙂

Hey, Stacy. I have to admit, I’m the romantic type of guy, so City of Angels and Ghost are two of my favorite movies. I’m afraid I haven’t seen Rio, yet, but I hope to change that soon enough.

I absolutely love all your picks, especially the first video-Even though the song is slow, I really enjoyed it. Probably the instrumentals in it; I’m a sucker for anything with extra instrumentals aside from the “normal” stuff 🙂
Tell Princess N I commend her choice! Rio is such a cute movie and it has some really great songs in it ^.^
