Good Girls Gone Bad with Angel Eyes and a Lightstick – Safe and Sound

Hope you had a great weekend and that all you mothers out there were treated like queens for your special day yesterday.  We had gorgeous weather for the weekend up until the crazy rain yesterday evening that will be continuing for the next two days.  At least the hubby got the lawn mowed, so it won’t look like a jungle – at least until Wednesday after the rain encourages rapid growth.

We’re in count-down mode until the end of school – at least Princess Nagger is in a big way.  Only 2-1/2 weeks left.  things will get interesting, because all the kids will be home all day – which includes the hubby, since he’s teaching the night class this term.  The next three months pretty much determine I’ll get nothing done.  At least I’ll have a legitimate excuse, right?

This week’s theme for Monday’s Music Moves Me is a freebie – I’ve been stashing lots of songs for our freebie weeks, so you can expect to go along for an extra fun ride.

Let’s start with a song that was on one of my favorite shows (which has not been renewed for a second season and doesn’t happy), a song which was made specifically for the show – here’s JaneDear Girls with “Good Girls Gone Bad”:

Next is another great song from the now defunct GCB, a group that was actually performing on the episode of GCB, here’s with “Angel Eyes”:

Next is an artist I hadn’t heard of before, but I fell in love with this song and am now a fan, here’s Zola Jesus with “Lightstick”:

Last but not least, I’ve shared this song before but Princess Nagger insisted I share it again since she and I finally went and saw The Hunger Games this weekend.  More on that tomorrow.  Meanwhile, here’s one of both mine and Princess Nagger’s favorite artists, Taylor Swift featuring The Civil Wars with “Safe and Sound” from The Hunger Games soundtrack:

Enjoy your Monday!

I have the supreme honor and privilege of being a co-host with the inimitable Xmas Dolly and her cohorts in crime, Lorie of The Shewbridges of Celebration, Florida, Callie from JAmericanSpice, and our newest permanent fixture to the hostessing team, welcome Cathy from Cathy Kennedy’s Blog. Also for the month of May, we have the honor of having our friend Denise from Run DMT generously helping out with our hostessing duties.

Want to join in the fun? It’s easy – just find a tune that rocks your boat, post it and link up – don’t forget to grab Xmas Dolly…er, um, I mean her button…over at her place here. Check out Xmas Dolly’s sidebar for the random themes we sport each week – and you can always ask for a specific theme of music you like, too. Check out the other music lovahs and let’s jam!

  1. Hey, Stacy! I wonder if I can make a suggestion: listen “this isn’t what we meant” (Bon Jovi) I absolutely love this song. Actually Savatage sings it, but I like Bon Jovi’s version.

  2. I love the songs my mother can relate with them. Thanks to your blog for giving me better idea on the surprise I might give this mother’s day.

  3. I really do love freebie weeks because everyone shares songs that they’re really enjoying at the moment. These were all new to me and each one was better than the next. Loved that Lightstick song! It reminds of something I would have listened to in the 80s.

I can’t wait to hear your Hunger Games review. I’ve heard mixed reviews from my friends.

  4. Ah, some great ones for my iPod! I enjoyed GCB too but I had a feeling it wasn’t going to make the cut. Have a wonderful week 🙂

  5. Great songs you have here. That first one was funky and the 2nd one it is too bad they are defunct because they are really great.

  6. I enjoyed the Hunger Games even though I didn’t read the book(s). I thought the story and movie was a little too violent for young viewers. Interesting to read what you thought.

  7. Didn’t see the Hunger Games guess I better come back tomorrow and find out what’s goin’ on with that,. Not sure I cared for Zola it was okay, but the others just tremendously entertaining., You always know the right ones to pick my friend & I totally agree with the Princess. Great song & video.

  8. Ugh, with the cancelling of TV shows! One of the shows my husband and I liked on FOX is being cancelled and I’m a little sad about it. Not that the show is getting cancelled, but that we spent all that time getting into the show, and now we won’t ever know how it all ends! Sheesh!

  9. I need to find some things to do during the time the kids will be off. I’m trying not to panic about it 🙂

It’s so interesting that y’all will be all together.

    Love your music Stacy!

    Have a great week!

  10. I am a new follower, you are doing great!! I would love a visit and a possible follow back!! Thanks!!
