Yesterday Princess Nagger came home from school and asked:

“What’s the stupidest thing you’ve ever done in your entire life?”

I was actually stumped.  I pondered the question for a while, and could think of a few things that might be considered ‘stupid’, like marrying the cheater, followed by marrying the abuser – but those really aren’t something I want my 9-year old having to listen to (yet) or talk about with her friends at school.  I can’t say they were stupid at the time, but sure, in hindsight I’d probably label them that way.

So I pondered it some more, and thought maybe it was the time me and a group of friends were skiing on Crystal Mountain with our bota bags full of alcohol draped around our necks.  After a few trips up the ski lift (which is when the bota bags were brought out) we were a little buzzed and decided it would be a great idea to attempt a black diamond run.

It should be pointed out that all of us were were nowhere near advanced in our skiing.

Some might consider it a stupid decision, particularly after I missed a turn and went tumbling halfway down the mountain – on my butt.  Then got stuck in the hip-deep snow attempting to retrieve my runaway skis and put them back on my feet in a not-so-graceful manner.  Unwise to go buzzing down a black diamond slope while buzzed, sure, but stupid?  Yeah, probably.  At least it wasn’t a wipe-out as bad as this was going to be:

Aside from those few possible ‘stupid’ things, I can’t really think of anything that would be the ‘stupidest in my entire life’.  I’d like to think I possess a modicum of common sense, thereby assisting me in avoiding stupid at all costs.

Or it’s mind over matter and I’ve blocked them all out.  We’ll never really know will we?

Which brings me to this week’s question:

What’s the stupidest thing you’ve ever done in your entire life?  Princess Nagger wants to know.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Aloha Friday!

  2. I’m sure I’ve done LOTS of stupid things but I’ll say when I was a teenager my family took a trip to the World Trade Center in NY and went up to the observation deck. I wanted to hang out with my friends instead (stupid teenager) so I never went and never made it inside the WTC. Totally stupid!!!!

  3. I have done way to many stupid things and most of them are due to alcohol! I think the stupidest was putting a white sheet over me and acting like a ghost on the side of the road.

  5. Tell Princess Nagger that unless she had from now until the end of school year free, she doesn’t have TIME to listen to every bone-headed thing I’ve ever done, much less have me make a decision about which was the *most* bone-headed.

  6. Oh I did one of those two married a stupid mistake, but putting that aside I think the biggest stupid mistake I ever did was being so dam independent, and never taking help when it was offered. I thought I could do everything on my own. I still think that way, but nine out of ten times it gets me in trouble now because I can’t be so independent anymore. I also didn’t take no …. from anyone. After I divorced my biggest mistake I took Karate lessons for two years, and swore I wouldn’t date a man I couldn’t take, and I never did.

  7. Funny thing, I’ve just made a post out of my stupidity during my motherhood 🙂

The most stupid thing I’ve done was me being too embarrassed to check and my daughter’s intimate area leading to her getting a fused vagina 🙁 It wasn’t such a big deal but it scared the hell out of me and since then I am a bit too careful with her genital parts. She might get bothered by that soon. hehe

  8. I did a lot of stupid things, especially in high school and college. I prefer not to think about them because then I realize that my kids might do some of the same things.

  10. Yea that takes awhile to think about.
I’m thinking it was pulling my knife on a dude who tried to touch me while I was walking home from school.

um…tell the Princess she is not allowed to do this.

This was in my country and well you had to protect your person. I worry that the princess might read this.

Anyway I’m late so she might not…

  11. I think the stupidest thing I’ve ever done is the same as someone else wrote above: driving after having a few too many drinks. I’m thrilled to say I haven’t done anything that stupid in decades but still – it’s hands-down the silliest thing I’ve ever done!
