The One That Got Away with a Red Solo Cup because there’s just Somethin’ About A Truck

Hello Monday, why must you arrive so quickly?  Those of you who stayed up to watch the Super Bowl last night are probably still rubbing sleep out of your eyes.  Or for those that partied hard, wishing you hadn’t done such hard partying now that the morning light is too bright and the alarm clock is too loud.

So what better way to start off a Monday than with some fun music?  I’ll try to keep it to a dull roar out of respect for those of you whose heads may not be in the game this morning.  It’s a freebie week, so I’m sharing some fun songs that have gotten stuck in my head this week.  First up is a song by , ”:

Summer after high school when we first met
We make out in your Mustang to Radiohead
And on my 18th Birthday
We got matching tattoos

Used to steal your parents’ liquor
And climb to the roof
Talk about our future
Like we had a clue
Never planned that one day
I’d be losing you

In another life
I would be your girl
We’d keep all our promises
Be us against the world

In another life
I would make you stay
So I don’t have to say
You were the one that got away
The one that got away

I was June and you were my Johnny Cash
Never one without the other we made a pact
Sometimes when I miss you
I put those records on (Whoa)

Someone said you had your tattoo removed
Saw you downtown singing the Blues
It’s time to face the music
I’m no longer your muse

But in another life
I would be your girl
We’d keep all our promises
Be us against the world

In another life
I would make you stay
So I don’t have to say
You were the one that got away
The one that got away
The o-o-o-o-o-one [x3]
The one that got away

[Bridge:]
All this money can’t buy me a time machine (Nooooo)
It can’t replace you with a million rings (Nooooo)
I should’ve told you what you meant to me (Whoa)
‘Cause now I pay the price

In another life
I would be your girl
We’d keep all our promises
Be us against the world

In another life
I would make you stay
So I don’t have to say
You were the one that got away
The one that got away
The o-o-o-o-o-one [x3]

In another life
I would make you stay
So I don’t have to say
You were the one that got away
The one that got away

Next up is a song that cracks me up – and brings back many memories of parties rife with Red Solo Cups – appropriately, ’s ” (unedited version, so listen and view with caution):

Now a red solo cup is the best receptacle
For barbecues tailgates fairs and festivals
And you sir do not have a pair of testicles
If you prefer drinking from glass

A red solo cup is cheap and disposable
And in 14 years they are decomposable
And unlike my home they are not foreclosable
Freddie-Mac can kiss my ass woo

Red solo cup I fill you up
Lets have a party lets have a party
I love you red solo cup I lift you up
Proceed to party proceed to party

Now I really love how you’re easy to stack
But I really hate how you’re easy to crack
Cuz when beer runs down the front of my back
Well that my friends is quite yucky

But I have to admit the ladies get smitten
Admiring how sharply my first name is written
On you with a sharpie when I get to hittin’
on them to help me get lucky

Red solo cup I fill you up
Lets have a party lets have a party
I love you red solo cup I lift you up
Proceed to party proceed to party

Now I’ve seen you in blue and I’ve seen you in yellow
But only you in red will do for this fellow
Cuz you are the Abbot to my Costello
And you are the fruit to my loom

Red solo cup you’re more than just plastic
You’re more than amazing you’re more than fantastic
And believe me when I’m not the least bit sarcastic
when I look at you and say:

“Red solo cup, you’re not just a cup. You’re my…you’re my friend. (life long) Thank you, for being my friend.”

Red solo cup I fill you up
Lets have a party lets have a party
I love you red solo cup I lift you up
Proceed to party proceed to party

(Repeat) chorus 3 times

And finally, even if you’re not a country fan, you’ll actually enjoy this next one, because it’s a catchy tune, and I’m betting you’ll be tapping right along with the music.  with “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck”:

Somethin’ ’bout a truck in a farmer’s field
A no trespass sign, and time to kill
Nobody’s gonna get hurt, so what’s the big deal
Somethin’ ’bout a truck in a farmer’s field

Somethin’ ’bout beer, sittin’ on ice
After a long hard day, makes it taste just right
On that dropped tailgate, on a summer night
Somethin’ ’bout beer sittin’ on ice

Somethin’ ’bout a girl, in a red sun dress
With an ice cold beer pressed against her lips
In that farmer’s field, will make a boy a man
There’s somethin’ ’bout a girl in a red sundress

And there’s somethin’ ’bout a kiss, that’s gonna lead to more
On that dropped tailgate, back behind the corn
The most natural thing you’ve ever felt before
There’s somethin’ ’bout a kiss that’s gonna lead to more

And there’s somethin’ ’bout a truck in a field and a girl in a red sundress with an ice cold beer to her lips
Beggin for another kiss
And there’s somethin bout you and me and the birds and the bees and lord have mercy it’s a beautiful thing
Ain’t nothin bout it luck, there’s somethin bout a truck

Somethin’ ’bout a creek, around 2 a.m.
After a few of those beers, you wanna dive on in
You don’t need no clothes, so just hang ’em on a limb
There’s somethin bout a creek around 2 a.m.

And there’s somethin’ ’bout a truck in a field and a girl in a red sundress with an ice cold beer to her lips
Beggin’ for another kiss
And there’s somethin’ ’bout you and me and the birds and the bees and lord have mercy, it’s a beautiful thing
Ain’t nothin’ ’bout it luck, there’s somethin’ ’bout a truck
Ain’t nothin’ ’bout it luck, there’s somethin’ ’bout a truck

  1. Oh, the song The One That Got Away is so sad! I’ve always thought the music was pretty, but have not seen the video or read the lyrics until now.

Now Red Solo Cup is really funny! Only a country artist can come up with lyrics like this, right? lol Trucks, women, and beer three major componets in most country songs are all found in your next title. The music sets my foot to tapping in Something ‘Bout A Truck. Thanks for giving me two new songs to add to that library data base in my noggin’! =D

  2. I love that Toby Keith. His songs are so fun. One of the first song my 20 year old grandson learned to sing was “Should a been a Cowboy”.

  3. I am officially old!!! I remember parties like RED SOLO CUP and the fun I had and then turned into mom mode and hoped my kids weren’t having as much fun as I used to. 🙂

  4. I remember when my kids were so young trying to drink from those red solo cups. Their hands were so small that they could not hold onto them. We would always have some drink spilled.

  5. Oh, I love that Katy Perry song, sad but I love it.
Only Toby Keith and Red Solo Cup LOL!
I really enjoyed ‘Something ’bout a Truck’, never heard it and it was delightful!
    Enjoy your Monday!!

  6. I can honestly say these are ALL new songs to me 🙂 And even though I know Katy Perry and her music, I can’t say I’m familiar with that song!

You learn something new everyday 🙂

    Have a musical week!

  7. OMG I HAVE SO GOT TO SEND A LINK TO THAT RED SOLO CUP TO THE HUBBY. I’ve never heard that one before & that’s hysterical. LMAO. Great job my friend. Love your choices this week. You get to gold stars. hugzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
