Just think, if it wasn’t a Leap Year, today would be the last day of February instead of tomorrow.  Those born on February 29th are lucky, because you only get older every four years instead of annually.  Something to ponder.  What, it doesn’t work like that?  Darn.

Saturday morning I woke up and while I was getting my first cup of coffee, thought up an awesome anecdote that would have been entertaining to you all. Except that once I had my coffee in hand, I was distracted by the usual flurry of activity clothing and feeding the rug-rats before finally sitting down for that first cup of coffee (good thing my coffee cup keeps my coffee hot for 4 hours, or pouring that first cup would have been a disappointing moot point).

At any rate, when I finally sat down, I couldn’t for the life of me remember that anecdote.  At all.

Too bad there’s no antidote for a forgotten anecdote.

In other news… Little Dude is a major challenge when it comes to nap-time.  Some days he does great and falls asleep within a half hour of getting tucked in, but other days he decides he’d much prefer to play in his bed – with his feet, his hands, his hair, his blanket, his pillow, his socks… doing anything and everything to keep himself awake rather than fall asleep.

On those days (which are more often than not) he’ll finally fall asleep around the time he’d be getting up.  Then there are days, like Sunday, where he falls asleep like a champ – only to be rudely awakened by the devil tween next door and his obnoxiously loud dirt bike he insists on riding up and down their driveway – which reverberates even louder through the windows on that side of the house, including Little Dude’s bedroom windows.

It didn’t appear there were any adults at home, which is usually when he chooses to be an ass and do just that.  For three hours.  Moron.  I can’t wait until we move.  Can’t be soon enough for me.

Now for some real fun… The lovely ladies, Shawn and Impulsive, (who host Talk To Us Tuesday) decided to host a Seriously Impulsive Swap.  When I received the particulars about my swap partner, Liberty of Liberty Original, I was excited – it appeared from her likes and dislikes that we were pretty much twins separated at birth.  I had fun shopping for some unique gifts for her, and when I received the box of awesomeness from her, I was thrilled beyond words:

She pretty much nailed me to a T – from the touching hand-made personal note (with a deer, naturally, since I’ve collected deer items since I was 7):

to the awesome customized coffee mug:

the yummy smelling soap and unique and cool soy candle in a tin can:

the cool notepads and personalized initial paper clips (and sweetarts and gobstoppers that Princess Nagger quickly absconded with except these pictured):

yummy chocolate truffles (milk chocolate, of course):

and last, but certainly not least, the ultra cool sign that says it all:

I loved absolutely everything – thanks so much, “sister” Liberty!  Your thoughtfulness and generosity is appreciated so much more than words can say.

And thank you to Shawn and Impulsive – ladies, your hostessing and pairing of partners was stellar, and I thank you for the privilege of participating.  Should you decide to do another one in the future, you can count me in.  Thank you for everything.

That’s about it for this week – feel free to link up and hop around to all the other awesome randomizers – they’re all so entertaining. If you’re visiting from Talk To Us Tuesday, feel free to link up, too – the more the merrier. Rebel On!

We’re still rebelling while Keely is still hiatus-ing (which is closing in on a full year of hiatus, so I’m thinking she might not be back and I’ll just have to wear the Random Crown permanently and make a new badge), if you have a smorgasbord in your brain and want to let it out, c’mon and join in the fun! Rebel On!

Once again I’m hopping aboard this fun friendly train – if you’re traveling on the train, be sure to leave your link so I can follow you back!

And I’m joining up with the Tuesday Friend and Follow – if you’re stopping by here from there, please do me a favor and follow via LinkyFollowers – as of Thursday, GFC will be defunct on my blog since the cads at Goggle are boycotting non-Blogger blogs.

  1. Oh! Due to my busy schedule, I never look at the calendar and know that today was leap year. Thanks Stacy for sharing the news about leap year. You are right, people who has birthday are leap year are lucky enough to celebrate their birthday every 4 years. I do love truffles; chocolate is one of my favorite dessert and stress relieving medicine.

  2. Those treats you got look great.

And I understand about the maps. Once it gets past a certain point I make Leo get up and bedtime just comes at least 1 hour earlier.

  3. I recall there were days when our kiddos would not want to take a nap period. I believed it all started around the time they reached 3 or 4 years of age. That’s when I decided although a nap would not only be good for them and provide me with that much deserved mommy break, if they wouldn’t take a nap then by golly they wouldn’t take one at all. Needless to say, by the time bedtime rolled around they were more than ready to hit the sheets and I made sure they held out long enough to get feed, bathed, and teeth brushed before even allowing the to let their tiny eyes shut for night time bliss. I don’t think any harm was done to them for not having had been forced to take daily naps. Noisy, inconsiderated neighbors are a nightmare. We’re so blessed to live on a relatively quiet street. The reason being they are few kids living here. Thanks for keeping the random going and yeah, you may have to carry the ballgame on RTT from here on out. That would be cool! =D

  4. BTW, I have a deer rubberstamp just like this design on your note card and coffee cup. I’ve used in for making cards yes, but not on anything else. This is really neat to stamp the image so to use it on the inside of a mug like this, though. I feel a wave of inspiration coming on….

  5. Ugh, that is awful about the devil tween neighbor. We had some similar a few years back but fortunately they moved out. And there was great rejoicing througout the neighborhood. Love the treats!

The only antidote to forgetting an anecdote is to fall back asleep. Guranteed you’ll remember like *that*. Course then it becomes a vicious cycle….

  6. I have a trivet that has this little deer on it. I have no clue where it came from but it is old and I just fell in love with the softness of how it looks. My whole life seems to be totally random lately.. sighs. I would have been taking a neighbor child in hand as if it were my own. Just sayin’ or remove a spark plug from a bike when they weren’t looking ahem coff coff

  7. I never get to drink a cup of hot coffee.. and I never get to finish a cup before it’s freezing cold. Life hates that I love coffee.

I want some truffles.. :/ dangit.

And we have an annoying person that drives up and down our road, too. They refuse to get a muffler for their old car, and it drives me insane. I don’t say anything to them, though, because they help the sweetest lady in the world, since she’s all alone, and aging. By aging, I mean I think she’s a vampire. She’s lived at the end of my road since before my Mom was born, and she’s still trucking along. Insanity.

  8. Oh I do feel for you, when our kiddies were younger we used to live next to a loud family. Just no consideration for little ones at all.
It used to make me so angry!.
How fantastic are those swap goodies, lucky you.

  9. I have a feeling Bruiser will be like that with napping soon. I’m hoping to make it another year before he gives them up completely. It may be a losing battle.
That is some great stuff. I love seeing what people got for swaps. It gives me ideas for the next swap

  10. That post made my morning, we know you two would love each other!

I come from a family of dirt-bikers so I know first hand how loud those can be. Try telling him when nap time is, maybe he’ll surprise you with his consideration. If not then I’ll pray that your move comes quickly!

Thanks for swapping with us and for linking up. When I drag myself out of bed and upstairs to my desktop I’ll add your button to my post and come back and link up with you too.

  11. What a fun post and great swap!! I linked up with you for your link party today also– oooh, how I love LIberty!! She is so creative and one of my favorite blog friends!! You def. got lucky to have her!! 🙂

  12. I saw what you got Liberty. SOMEONE went over budget I think! You’re so busted. =) Looks like she got you some great loot. That wine sign would go GREAT in my kitchen if you don’t have a place to hang it. =)

I have to say that you are the sweetest person. I see how many people you visit on Tuesday’s and your comments are so genuine and nice. I’m so glad that I found your blog. Thank you SO MUCH for playing with us and always linking up. YOU ROCK MY WORLD (in a non-sexual way).

  13. You know.. oops first thing I signed in twice because the destination to my first one was wrong (it went to a give-away) Please delete that one the second one is correct. Now to my comment. Love Love your Post you write about such cool stuff, but what I’d like to know is where do you find the time. Here I am home alone from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. when hubby returns. Yep, me and the dog.. oh my fish too. Nothing else & I’m always behind on my blog. 🙁 Do I just do the wrong stuff? Anyway, your Post was very interesting & fun today & as far as Lil Dude all I can say is it’s just the child’s personality. If there’s a lot on his mind whether it be playing or fidgeting he’s not going to go to sleep & be careful of the sugar, but my kids did the same thing, but I feel even if they’re not asleep laying there is resting, and that’s what they need too. So stop beating your head up against the wall. Try as you must, but you’re still a good good Mommy.

  14. Funny how the little ones don’t appreciate the concept of nap time. Some days I’d give anything for a short nap. It would be hard for me to bite my tongue with the noisy neighbor. Hopefully things will be much better after the move. You really made out on that swap. You got some great stuff from your partner.

  15. Hi! First time visitor here, visiting from Tuesday Friend & Follow. I can relate to obnoxious tweens…only mine are obnoxious teens with quads, rather than tweens with dirt bikes. Though all my kids are too old for naps, so the obnoxious neighbor kids don’t bug me so much as their dogs pooping all over my lawn do. ~sigh~

  16. I have been trying to no avail to have my birthday changed so I can start aging just once every four years. No one seems to think this is allowed. Sigh.

I LOVE your swap loot! The wine sign is awesome!

  17. I didn’t realize GFC was going away that fast- I thought it was spring, stupid google. And that prize package is awesome! I hate when they have trouble napping- nap time is so so precious and should not be messed with. Mom needs it.

  18. Your swap partner definitely personalized the package just for you!! I love that she made you a deer travel mug! That’s so cool. Those Harry & David truffles…YUMMMM! Cute little wine sign and I bet that candle smells amazing! Awesome stuff!

  19. Wow, you got some great stuff! Naptime can be hard, my 3 year old doesn’t like napping sometimes, He’s getting a little old but when he doesn’t take naps, it’s a nightmare…..good luck!!

  20. Geez, I’m horrible for just now commenting!!! I’m so glad you loved all your goodies!! :)) It makes my heart truly happy. I hope you have had a great week!
