We made it through the first week of the New Year.  You think the Mayans are scoffing at our indifference to the world coming to an end in December?

Let’s keep the New Year rolling with some fun music, shall we?  This week is a freebie week, so I’m sharing two of my favorite songs I was cranking up whenever they came on during our long drive to and from Iowa.  First up is a fun one by Eric Church called “Drink In My Hand”:

Drink In My Hand Lyrics:

Early Monday morning, til Friday 5
Man I work, work, work but I don’t climb, climb, climb
Boss man can shove that overtime up his can
All I want to do is put a drink in my hand

Fill it up, throw it down
I got a 40 hour week worth of trouble to drown
No need to complicate it, I’m a simple man
All you got to do is put a drink in my hand

Yea the parking lot is muddy, can’t get to the door
I take my jacked up drop her down in 4×4
Chill down a long neck, warm up the band
All you got to do is put a drink in my hand

Fill it up, throw it down
I’m about to tear a new one in this old town
5…4…3…2…1… I’m a rocketman
All you got to do it put a drink in my hand

Make me want to go ooh ooh ooh, when you dance like that
you got that little tattoo playing peek-a-boo on your back
Yeah if you want to impress me, baby here’s my plan
All you got to do is put a drink in my hand

Yeah fill it up, throw it down
When you drive me home, take the long way around
You be my Lois Lane , I’ll be your Superman
All you got to do is put a drink in my hand

My head Monday morning when that alarm clock sings
It goes bang, bang, bang, while it ring, ring, rings
Yeah I’m ready to roll, if you want to rock again
All you got to do is put a drink in my hand

Yeah fill it up, throw it down
I got a little hungover still hanging around
Yeah that hair of the dog is howling “hey there man”
All you got to do is put a drink in my hand

That hair of the dog is howling “hey there man”
All you got to do is put a drink in my hand
Aaoooo!

I wasn’t sure how to spell the howl at the end, but you get the idea.  And I bet you’ll howl too.  Next up is another favorite (that Princess Nagger probably got tired of me belting out on the drive), Tim McGraw with “Felt Good on My Lips”:

Felt Good On My Lips Lyrics:

She said her name was a hand me down name
From the side of a family that long ago came
Over here on a boat from somewhere in Spain
Sounded to me just a little bit strange, I guess.
But I have to admit, it felt good on my lips.

She tipped the DJ to play her favorite song
A Spanish little number that was a rockin’ on strong
She grabbed me by the sleeve and said, “Let’s go and get it on”
By the second chorus I was singing right along with it
I don’t know what it meant.
But it felt good on my lips.

Ooh ooh ooh I wanna go crazy
You can go crazy too
Ooh ooh ooh I wanna go crazy
Wanna go crazy with you

Everybody sayin’ whoahohohoho how sweet it is
Whoahohohohohoh
Yeah it felt good on my lips

She ordered us a drink
It was a purple kind of pink
She said it’s got a shot of a little bit of everything
Mellow yellow umbrella for a fella like me
It was just a bit mellow for me to be seen with.
But I took a sip.
Yeah it felt good on my lips.

Ooh ooh ooh I wanna go crazy
You can go crazy too
Ooh ooh ooh I wanna go crazy
Wanna go crazy with you

Everybody say whoaohohohoh how sweet it is
Whoaohohohohoh
Yeah it felt good on my lips

When the lights came on and they hollered last call
I was busy getting lost in her cherry lip gloss
In a little corner booth, eye to eye no talk
She leaned in close and gave me one long and wet
Goodnight, goodbye kiss
.
And It felt good on my lips.

Whoaohohohoh how sweet it is
Whoaohohohohoh
Whoaohohohoh how sweet it is
Whoaohohohohoh
Yeah it felt good on my lips.

That one was different than you expected, wasn’t it?  See why I like it so much?  Enjoy your Monday!

  1. Felt Good On My Lips is my favorite of these two. It’s a new one to me, but then again, you know I’m not a huge into country music even the new country, right? lol Tim McGraw is one of those shining country stars, which I’ve grown a fondness to ever since seeing him the the movie Blind Side. Thanks for sharing with me!

  2. Those pesky Mayans are on a lot of peoples minds this year, wonder why? lol

Oh, I love coming here on Monday’s because I always get good Country songs. See my husband hates Country and I really like it but you know how that is, so sometimes you compromise. Anyway, I add the songs to my iPod and then have to skip them when he is around so I enjoy you introducing me to them because otherwise I really wouldn’t find them. Oh, and not to say he doesn’t compromise, he feels listening to Madonna is huge sacrifice so that is as far as I will push it lol
