Toasting the New Year…or making Toast

Can you believe we are wrapping up the year already?  I keep forgetting not to blink, yet it appears I've blinked-away the whole entire year.  We're still in Iowa, we won't be hitting the road home until the day after we celebrate (yes, I know, we didn't plan that one very well, did we?) so we'll be pretty low-key with said .

Most likely we'll toast in the new year – some of us with champagne, some of us with a nice cold glass of milk.  But we will toast it in.  Speaking of toasts (the celebratory kind, not the kind that comes out of a toaster) my best friend Peggy always had a fun toast – I liked it so much I had to have her write it down for me so I could memorize it.  This is her toast:

Here's to you and from you…
And to you again…
And if you get to it and don't do it…
You'll never get to it to do it again.

At least that's what I think it was.  At any rate – here's to you…and a great 2012.

Which brings me to this weeks question(s):

How do you ring in the New Year?  Do you have a special toast (or do you make special toast)?

(sorry, I couldn't resist…)

Have a great weekend, and

Happy New Year!

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it and look forward to the weekend. So on Fridays let's take it easy on posting, too. Ask a simple question…nothing that requires a lengthy response. It's a great way to make new blogging friends!

About Stacy (the Random Cool Chick)

After 20+ years in the Corporate World and years of infertility, Princess Nagger made her miraculous appearance and I chose to become a SAHM and WAHM - I love every minute of it. We added Little Dude through adoption, adding a whole new dimension to our family. We have an eclectic mix of pets: dogs, cats, birds and fish. I love to cook and try new techniques to turn ordinary into extraordinary. Crafty by nature, I take on a lot of unique projects and enjoy seeing the end result. My favorite, of course, is making my own wine out of fruits and grapes. Experiments with water currently underway. I blog about the joys of parenting, family, friends, life, love and anything else that strikes my fancy. I do enjoy doing reviews and giveaways for products I use, believe in and can stand behind.

  1. We’re so exciting – we’ll stay home and IF we’re awake at midnight, we’ll have a glass of wine, since neither of us care for champagne.

Yup – we live on the wild side.

  2. You have a wonderful celebration and a safe journey home.
We just go out to dinner and toast each other there.
We usually fall asleep before the ball drops!! Ha!
    No special toast though!

  3. I have to work. I work in a restaurant so I guess I will be bringing it in with all my best (strangers) friends. Watching them get drunk and then worrying all the way home about some crazy person hitting me. Ahhh well, at least I have a job, right?

  4. This year does seem to have gone by fast but that is a good thing since it was filled with family heartache. I can’t wait for 2012 and it just has to be better. My son and his gf are bartenders at their 2nd jobs so we are planning on eating there so we can be with them. Happy New Year!

  5. I hope you are enjoying the time with your family. Plans go awry eh 🙂

We don’t have any special traditions of ringing in the new year. We’ll see the fireworks though, whether from our windows are driving out somewhere.

Happy New Year to your dear!

  6. We’re spending it with my family at my Sister’s house. It’s pretty low-key but the kids have so much fun together. Hau’oli Makahiki Hou!

  7. I have no idea what we’ll do. and it’s um, tomorrow! Yikes! But I will have a drink and toast something….if I don’t fall asleep before 12. 😉
