It’s Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas

Princess Nagger and I finally got our Christmas Tree decorated:

In an effort to thwart the Little Dude from absconding with the ornaments off the tree, I put our smaller 6-1/2 foot tree on a table to keep it out of reach.  Good thing our ceilings are 10-foot ceilings.

I used to do the tree with all white lights, and all silver and gold decorations.  After the arrival of Princess Nagger, the tree has morphed into an eclectic mix of unique and interesting decor:

Old ‘friends’:

Were joined by new ones:

Princess Nagger has a thing about birds.  They’re the modern day dinosaur you know.  We also added this guy:

This little controls the lights on the tree – you simply blow on his candle to turn them off or on.  Princess Nagger and Little Dude get a kick out of seeing it work.  So he’s a little higher on the branches so they’re not constantly turning the lights on and off, huffing and puffing on the tree like the Big Bad Wolf.

A few hours later I finally had some presents wrapped to put under the tree and table:

The paper strips you see hanging from the tree skirt were taped on there by Princess Nagger – before I infiltrated the space under the table, she was using it as her cat lair/nest.  She was (momentarily) mad at me when I took her lair over, but got over it when she realized some of those presents are for her.  I still have a lot yet to do in the gift wrapping department, hence the pile’o’stuff and scads of paper to the right.  Hopefully it’ll be done by Christmas.

How are your coming along?  Or am I so far behind that you’ve been enjoying yours for a couple of weeks by now?

About Stacy (the Random Cool Chick)

After 20+ years in the Corporate World and years of infertility, Princess Nagger made her miraculous appearance and I chose to become a SAHM and WAHM - I love every minute of it. We added Little Dude through adoption, adding a whole new dimension to our family. We have an eclectic mix of pets: dogs, cats, birds and fish. I love to cook and try new techniques to turn ordinary into extraordinary. Crafty by nature, I take on a lot of unique projects and enjoy seeing the end result. My favorite, of course, is making my own wine out of fruits and grapes. Experiments with water currently underway. I blog about the joys of parenting, family, friends, life, love and anything else that strikes my fancy. I do enjoy doing reviews and giveaways for products I use, believe in and can stand behind.

  1. Lovely tree and ornaments. I have lots of decorating to do. And I am usually wrapping presents last minute (like Christmas eve, so it will probably work that way this year too).

  2. Your tree looks beautiful! The kids did a great job! I love the dinosaur ornaments and that Santa light thing is super cool. Where did you find that?

Our tree is still not finished. We suck. lol

  3. Stacy,
Your tree looks amazing! I absolutely love it. As for my decorations? I am seriously far behind 🙁 Wanna come help? Clif is trying to finish the addition so we will have room to bring the tree down from the attic, and Me? Well, I am in full blown handmade- Christmas mode. Happy Wednesday!

  4. Wow, you already have presents under the tree? Go you! And that is a GREAT idea to put it up on a table. You’re smart!

  5. Would you be at all surprised to hear the Turbo has a dinosaur Christmas ornament too? I didn’t think so.
It’s a lovely tree and the Santa on/off ornament is genius. Do share where you got him.

  6. My Christmas decorations are up and have been for awhile, but my shopping…well, let’s just say I better get on it.

Speaking of decorations, where did you get that Santa ornament? That is just way too cool.

  7. Looks great! Sprite keeps checking under our tree for presents since I haven’t put any there for her yet. There’s only one for John and one for me, presents she had gotten us. (I’ve already sent her gifts home with the grandparents to keep her away from them since we’ll be on their side Christmas morning.)

  8. I have a tREE!!! and today I picked up the cutiest little purple tea candles. I put the tree up Sat., hubbie put on lights Sunday night, Monday I found 40 ornaments and put them up, and then Tuesday afternoon? The boys came home and put all the rest on the tree together. So the 2/3rds of the bottom of the tree was decorated. I re arranged the top lastnight. Today a box arrived at the door. YAY!

  9. we also have very eclectic ornaments on our tree. I’ve just been handed down ornaments from my parents tree and then we’ve added the ones we’ve been gifted as well plus the ones Leo has done at school. I like our Charlie Brown Christmas tree though!

And I like your idea of the tree on a table. In a few years I may have to put that idea to use.

  10. That santa is just so cool! I want one!

I just got my tree put up this week. But, I’ve yet to wrap a single thing. I have got to get busy!

    Beautiful pictures 🙂

  11. 🙂 I like your eclectic decoration soo much! It tells me that a wonderful and creative princess helped you with the decoration of the tree;)

  12. I’m not decorating this year, but not because I’m a grinch. I’m just enjoying the decorations in my neighborhood and the photos on blogs. I thought about decorating, and then I thought about putting everything away afterwards; and I decided on a big fat NO to doing the work. I can use the big fat NO in my own favor whenever I want because my kids are grown up. Our tree also evolved as the kids got older because every time we went on a trip, I purchased one or two ornaments at our destination. It’s fun to look at your tree and remember vacations taken as a family.

  13. I love the tree and I love it when little ones put their ornaments on too, so cute!!

Gosh, you already wrapping? I haven’t even bought any gifts yet!
