I keep blinking and time keeps flying by faster with each blink.  It’s a busy time of year – which seems to make the time fly by even faster.  Anyone have a ‘pause button’ I can borrow?  No?

It’s Monday, so that means it’s time to turn up the tunes and enjoy some great music.  This week’s theme for Monday’s Music Moves Me is songs with a color in it or in the band’s name or songs played at your prom.  Since I already had ‘prom’ stuck in my head and missed the color part, and since my school didn’t do prom’s, I decided to just pick some fun ones that could be indicative of a prom night…or not.

First up, we’ll start with one of my favorites groups, The Band Perry, with “All Your Life”:

All Your Life Lyrics
The Band Perry

Would you walk to the edge of the ocean
Just to fill my jar with sand
Just in case I get the notion
To let it run through my hand
Let it run through my hand

Well, I don’t want the whole world
The sun and moon and all their light
I just want to be the only girl, You love all your life
You love all your life

Would you catch a couple thousand fireflies, yeah
put them in a lamp to light my world
All dressed up in tux and bow tie hand delivered to a lonely girl, to a lonely,
lonely girl

Well, I don’t want the whole world
The sun and moon and all their light
I just want to be the only girl, You love all your life
You love all your life

Lately I’ve been writing desperate love songs
and mostly sing them to the wall
You could be the center piece of my obsession
If you would notice me at all yeah

Well, I don’t want the whole world, no the sun and moon and all their light
I just want to be the only girl,
You love all your life
You love all your life
You love all your life, life, yeah

Next up is another favorite group, Lady Antebellum, with their new song, “We Owned The Night”:

We Owned The Night Lyrics
Lady Antebellum

Tell me have you ever wanted
Someone so much it hurts,
Your lips keep trying to speak
But you just can’t find the words?
Well, I had this dream once,
I held it in my hand:

She was the purest beauty,
But not the common kind.
She had a way about her
That made you feel alive,
And for a moment,
You made the world stand still.
Yeah, we owned the night.

You had me dim the lights,
You danced just like a child.
The wine spilled on your dress,
And all you did was smile.
Yeah, it was perfect,
And I hold it in my mind.
Yeah, we owned the night.

When the summer rolls around,
And the sun starts sinking down,
I still remember you, oooh I remember you.
And I wonder where you are,
Are you looking at those same stars again?
Do you remember when…

We woke under a blanket,
All tangled up in skin,
Not knowing in that moment
We’d never speak again?
But it was perfect, I never will forget
When we owned the night.

Yeah, we owned the night.

And finally, because I’m not just a Country Girl, here’s a fun song that I guarantee will have you dancing in your seat (or at the very least unable to control tapping your foot) here’s Hot Chelle Rae with “Tonight Tonight”:

Tonight Tonight Lyrics
Hot Chelle Rae

It’s been a really really messed up week
Seven days of torture, seven days of bitter
And my girlfriend went and cheated on me
She’s a California dime but it’s time for me to quit her

La la la, whatever, la la la, it doesn’t matter, la la la, oh well, la la la

We’re going at it tonight tonight
There’s a party on the rooftop top of the world
Tonight tonight and were dancing on the edge of the Hollywood sign
I don’t know if I’ll make it but watch how good I’ll fake it
Its all right, all right, tonight, tonight

I woke up with a strange tattoo
Not sure how I got it, not a dollar in my pocket
And it kinda looks just like you
Mixed with Zach Galifianakis

La la la, whatever, la la la, it doesn’t matter, la la la, oh well, la la la

We’re going at it tonight tonight
There’s a party on the rooftop top of the world
Tonight tonight and were dancing on the edge of the Hollywood sign
I don’t know if I’ll make it but watch how good I’ll fake it
Its all right, all right, tonight, tonight

You got me singing like
Woah, come on, ohh, it doesn’t matter, woah, everybody now, ohh

Just don’t stop let’s keep the beat pumpin’
Keep the beat up, lets drop the beat down
It’s my party dance if I want to
We can get crazy let it all out

Just don’t stop let’s keep the beat pumpin’
Keep the beat up, lets drop the beat down
It’s my party dance if I want to
We can get crazy let it all out

Its you and me and were runnin this town
And its me and you and were shakin the ground
And ain’t nobody gonna tell us to go cause this is our show

Everybody
Woah, come on, ohh, all you animals
Woah, let me hear you now, ohh

Tonight tonight there’s a party on the rooftop top of the world
Tonight tonight and were dancing on the edge of the Hollywood sign
I don’t know if I’ll make it but watch how good I’ll fake it
Its all right, all right, tonight, tonight
Its all right, all right, tonight, tonight
Yeah its all right, all right, tonight, tonight

Just singing like
Woah, come on, ohh, all you party people
Woah, all you singletons, ohh, even the white kids

Just don’t stop lets keep the beat pumpin’
Keep the beat up, lets drop the beat down
Its my party dance if I want to
We can get crazy let it all out

Just don’t stop lets keep the beat pumpin’
Keep the beat up, lets drop the beat down
Its my party dance if I want to
We can get crazy let it all out

  1. Coffee hasn’t kicked in…correction on spelling *booging* needed here. Ugh, should’ve been boogieing! Yeah that looks weird to me, but I doubled checked online. After all, Google wouldn’t stir me wrong. =D

  2. I know I have issues…and it is before 7am…but I swear I first read that “since I already had porn music in my head…” lol ENTIRELY different meaning there!!

  3. Nope, you didn’t have a prom. If you did, you would have known all these songs are far too “cool” to be the prom song! I believe mine was “Heaven” by Brian Adams. Yup, it was the ’80s.

  4. Ok, I totally suck because I missed the whole color/prom theme this week but then, my school didn’t have a prom either. So, I could be safe due to a technicality. LOL BUT, if my school did have a prom, I bet Gun N’ Roses would have been a slow dance song back in the day. 😉

Love, love, love all your choices, mama. Lately, I’m really into The Band Perry and Hot Chelle Rae. Two totally different sounds, but I love the contrast. I love the The Band Perry’s folk sound and I love the hip-hop beat of the Hot Chelle Rae.

  5. Some great choices Stacy! I am new to The Band Perry because they play their song If I Die Young on the radio all the time! LOVE it! Really like this one too!

  6. Good choices for a prom today!! I went with color because I couldn’t tell you what was played at my proms to save my life!!
